          @SaintSimeon: It was once upon a time a place where people made calls when they were out, or perhaps just for value by doing the old straw poke trick to get a full refund. Now they are generally limited to use by travellers or other suspicious persons, most likely doing something dodgey.

    Just FYI, works fine on my S5. Worked with no problems for ages, then an update causes a warning screen to pop up when starting, stating that "performance may be affected" but I haven't noticed any issues before or after. YMMV

      Root and use xPrivacy, or flash a CM ROM and use privacy permissions. The latter is more user friendly in the end, but maybe not the whole flashing part.

      With Android MM you can disable access as you see fit.
