Huawei Y550 VS Sony Xperia E4G

Which one would be a better buy - Huawei Y550 or Sony Xperia E4G?

I want to use it on the Vodafone network.

I could either get a Vodafone locked Y550 for $99 OR Telstra locked Xperia E4G for $99 and pay $20 to have it unlocked.

Its probably out of OZBargain spirit, but lets just assume $99 and $120 are equal for the sake of this argument ;p

The Sony E4G has a better processor, with geekbench scores of 700 (single core) versus the Snapdragon in the Y550 (480).

So you should expect +30% better performance with the Sony E4G.

Internal memory twice as much — 8GB as opposed to 4GB.

Camera can record 1080p video — a little pointless since the camera is pretty crappy, but it's better than the Huawei which maxes at 720p.

The display is 0.2 inches larger, yet the phone is actually lighter than the Huawei. Display resolution also a touch better: 540 x 960 pixels compared to 480 x 854 on the huawei.

However the downside is the E4G doesn't have a removable battery, while the Huawei Y550 features a user removable back cover and battery.

  • There is quite a bit of discussion and reviews available for the Y550 on whirlpool. But not much info is available for the Xperia E4G apart from the specs; have any of you Ozbargainers used the E4G?

  • Shop around I managed to pick up y550 for me and my girlfriend for $45 each + 2x $50 recharge.

We have both been through so many apple and Android phones.

First phones that have lasted almost a year and are still going stron, great value for money I'd still be happy to pay $99. For one.

The only major anoyyance would be low internal storage and must be rooted for full apps2sd to work properly, as a side note if you only use neccassary apps and remove bloat it seems fine.
