Need HELP!! Which power bank to buy?

I am looking to buy a power bank for xmas.
I currently have an iPhone 6s and am looking for a quality, genuine power bank for charging when required.

What I am looking for:

  • PORTABLE! (can fit in a pocket and is easily transported)
  • Can charge iPhone 6s at least a couple of times
  • Quick charging
  • (not fussy on the number of ports)

I have recently noticed that XIAOMI power banks are popular among the OzBargain community, however I am unsure as to whether this is the best brand available and which product of their's would best fit my situation.

Thanks in advance!

  • I don't think there's any power bank can charge iphone6s few times and also fit in a pocket.

Any Anker product, they're quite well regarded. Would have helped if you included your budget; if you don't care about the price too much the Anker Powercore 20100 is probably your best bet and does everything you need. You can get it for around $111

  • I recently bought XIAOMI 10000mAh and XIAOMI 5000mAh power banks from Mushtato. The 10000mAh is fine, but the 5000mAh was DOA. Mushtato want me to post back this $13 item at my cost and they will replace, which I think is unacceptable for a DOA item that could not be used even once - they didn't send me a powerbank, they sent a paperweight. So buyer beware.

The 5000mAh is certainly portable - similar size to a mobile phone, so like carrying two mobiles. I guess it would a 6s close to twice.

I have been testing the 10000mAh this week. It has a smaller footprint, but is thinker. Still pocket sized but a bit fat. I have charged my old 4s a few times, and an iPad, so it does last a while.

I seem to recall that OZB members raved about how good Mushtato customer support is. If what you say is true, perhaps you should post your experience on the Mushtato thread - the recent one:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/224180

Even if it is expired - since there are still subscribers on the thread.

The rep will most probably be a subscriber and may be able to help you with this. If s/he can't, at least other OZB subscribers can hear why. This is of interest to other OZB members considering power bank purchases from them.

I have been in contact with the rep, and he/she just pointed at the T&Cs. I did tell them that IMO the buyer paying return postage was acceptable for an item that failed into its 12 month warranty period, but not for something that never worked at all.

The rep said to post it back and they would "consider" the case. I will wait for a final outcome before posting on the open forum.

The response to emails and messages was prompt, just not what I wanted to hear. I think it is unfair to have to spend on postage to send back a completely dead (relatively low value) item that was completely useless to me. IMO it did not at any point match the description of the item I bought and paid for - it was a paperwight. If it was eBay (where negative feedback is to be avoided like the plague), I suspect the outcome would have been different.

Worst case I will try to get PayPal to refund the postage I suppose. PITA though - we expect these things to work.

I think OZB community would be interested to hear about the outcome of your case. And yes, if something arrived that has never worked before, it would seem unreasonable for the buyer to have to foot the return shipping. Keep us posted, whatever the outcome.
