Amazing game. The sound track (which is free to listen to on Youtube) is also something you have to listen to if you like Jeremy Soule's works.

and my favourite part of the sound track:

    • Easthaven?

    • I really like the Baldur's Gate 1 soundtrack as well. I just used to have a crappy 128kb Mp3 version, but I recently managed to track down a lossless Flac encode. I just wish I could find a high quality version of HOMM 3's soundtrack.

  • have played icewind dale and BG2, fantastic ports but really need a tablet preferably 8" +

  • OMG - watch out for the mind flayers :o

I have such fond memories of playing all 3 of these games back when they were originally released <3

    • Those were the days. I don't think any D&D games or even other Bioware RPGs have been able to replicate that experience since. 6 unit party, fully tactical combat.

  • When I started playing these games recently I felt sad I never got on board the D&D train when they released but then I realised they came out when I was at uni and early stages of career so probably just as well I didn't play them back then, so addictive.

I remember playing these about 15 years ago. Great games. Not sure I would want to play them on a tablet though.

Bah, all these fancy graphics and whatnot.
Death Knights of Krynn FTW !

You must be even older than me..

I played.. and loved.. Dark Queen of Krynn. A game like that now would be labeled SRPG, but back then it was simply D&D. Great game. It got me into reading the novels.. great novels also.

      Also played Pools of Darkness.

ahhh… those were the days :). I played those old D&D games too, and really liked dual-classing thief-classes for their backstabbing abilities - figher-thief dual class = 2 consecutive back-stabs :D

        • I had 4 mages.. Delayed Blast Fireball FTW. =)

        • @lostn: ahhh yes :) the damage from delayed blast fireball was so much higher than the normal fireball. And it gets past (minor) globes of invulnerability too (enemy mages were a major pain in the ass).

        • @lostn:
Kender taunt, Entangle and Delayed Blast Fireball. Rinse repeat, then step over the charred bodies.
I swear, my brother and I must have played 70% of the battles in that manner, and were very surprised when we first found an NPC immune to crowd control..

        • @Magpye: I remember in DQK there were enchanted draconians who either exploded when they died, damaging you, or they rose back up and got worse to deal with until you killed them again. Those were a pain.

Dragons at least could simply be killed with a dragonlance as long as you had a lot of HP.

  • How do you even play this on a phone / tablet?

    • It's configured for touch.

      • Oh, I have the originals from when they were new.. But I just don't know how you could play effectively.

        • Pause a lot.

Go for the eyes Boo, go for the eyes! Raghhhh!

    • They revived Boo and his guardian in the Neverwinter MMO.
      Still hilarious.

Actually this is referenced in Mass Effect. tali'zorah has a pet drone named "Chatika vas Paus" which she occasionally quips '"Go for the optics, Chatika! Go for the optics!' when she activates the drone ability.

        • That made me laugh.. still have to play ME - I know, I know, Udemy courses aren't the only thing I hoard..

        • It's Chiktikka Fastpaws, mentioned by Aerie in BG2 but never seen. They might have changed the name for Tali's drone, I don't know.
