They should have 3gb data included with no expiry.

    In Stock Sunnybank Qld.

    • Was price $9?

      • +1

        Yes

        • Thanks for confirming, so should hopefully be nation wide.

        • +2

@Infidel: Should be nationwide, it's in today's Telegraph paper. Ends 24/12.

        • @JSQUARED:
The paper ad lists it as USB so the special might get pulled.

        • +1

@nocure: I actually didn't realise that until now, so yes that's true.

Image of ad for the curious

  • That's cheap. Vodafone sims don't expire also.

  • Do you know if they are locked to voda?

      • Thanks.

    • Haven't been locked in previous deals.

    • I've bought three of these thus far and none have been locked. The first unit, I requested (and received) an unlock code for (at no charge); but it had nowhere to put it and when I stuffed in an Optus SIM it just worked (had to change APN in web interface, that's all) - units 2/3 I went straight to putting the Optus SIM in and away it went (after APN change).

  • Theyre unlocked out of box, but need to put in APN of other carriers thru the web interface which is not straight forward and bit fiddly

      1. Make sure that your R207 is fully charged.

      2. Change the default SIM with another network provider SIM and plug to Windows PC using USB cable.

      3. Let it install all the drivers and software which is required by R207 to run it properly.

      4. Now, open the Internet Explorer and type in browser 192.168.0.1 or what ever is default IP address of your router.

      5. Login to router dashboard. (Default username and password is admin. If not then check the router manual).

      6. Search for NCK / Unlock / Password / SIM Lock option and put the correct 8 digit unlock code.

      7. Now reboot the Vodafone R 207 and it will show the another network provider SIM.

      8. Create the new profile according to the new SIM card and connect to internet.

Since this unit is unlocked, its just setting up the network's APN that's necessary. A search or Whirlpool entry under your Telco will give that. Its just a few lines of details that are different for each Telco. Its not specific to the broadband device.

Input that through the dashboard on a computer or smart phone. Details of accessing the dashboard are in the short manual that comes with device.

I've set up a variety of Pocket Wifis on different networks for years. But its been almost a year since I set up an APN for these.

        I now use a cheap 4G or 4GX phone.

  • Plenty of stock at $9 at K-Mart, Mt Barker, SA. Just got one instead of recharging!

  • Damn, I've just listed my unused R208 from an earlier deal for twice this price - how will I sell it when the R207 is so cheap + 3GB data :( Still the R208 is better with twice the battery capacity, screen rather than simple leds, etc. But at this price - who cares!

Never used it despite years of experience with different Pocket WiFi. Cheap phones do much the same job with better features, although the battery should last longer on Pocket WiFi devices.

I'm tempted even though I know I don't need it.

R208 is much better - goes all day!

  • I feel bad binning everything but the Sim card.. Do ppl pay anything for the device without Sim on ebay?

    • +1

I got $8 for mine in ebay after all the fees (postage ebay paypal)

If you just need the SIM for the data, consider the current $5 Telstra $30 Starter Pack offers for much more data on Freedom Plan in next month or so. SIM expiry should be early 2017, but data will probably be 3GB after January. If Vodafone is necessary, this deal isn't bad.

I've had my Pocket WiFi listed on Gumtree for nearly 1 week with only 1 enquiry. So probably not worth the effort. Could donate it to charity, local kids, etc.

      • Does the data have an expiry date once activated?
I plan to use it only when I nearly reach my monthly mobile quota.

        • +2

          28 days after activation.

          @nocure:
          cheers. Not for me then

        • @mmd:
This deal's SIM is 30 days - its only the expiry date that does not expire for activation. Once activated, you have 30 days use before its gone.

Could consider Optus SIM with $2 days for 500MB/day & unlimited calls & sms. Buying a $30 Starter Pack when on special for around $5 will give 15 days use over 6 months activation. (Coles Express were recently giving away $10 packs with ATM promo. I picked up a few free.)

  • Can I put my Optus sim (previously Woolworths sim, 5g data with 45 expiry day) in it and make it work?

    • Yes, just change the APN in the settings.

    • yes but you need to change the setting

    • Why would you want to? Can't use it for the included calls. Get an android phone and tether or wifi hotspot.

  • Can I take the sim out of these and put them in a new ipad air 2 to steal all the gigabytes for my self, or do I need to use these as a wifi access point?

  • I got the last one from Eastgardens NSW. Thanks Op

  • None at parramatta

They are available online, and with click and collect.

    • $3 Click & Collect Administration Fee applies.

      • That's crap but good got those who can't track down any stock.

    • Insufficient stock anywhere near me.

Is there an expiry date for the 3GB data?

    • +2

      Read the 2nd comment.

  • In a Kmart store but what I'm seeing here is only 500mb of data included.

    • That's smaller white USB one on the left of the above photo. You want the larger black wifi model to the right (assuming they have stock).

  • In stock Queanbeyan NSW

Damn, how many millions of these R07's did Vodafone buy from Huawei ? They just never ran out. I have some R208's which is quite superior, and some R207's never opened for the included data.

I wonder if Vodafone meant to buy 1,000,000 and some rookie in Accounts put an extra 0 on the order and got 10 million instead.

  • price checked it at target for $9

    • Can someone kindly send me a copy of the receipt please ? Thank you.

  • Target online and inshore is $39.00 but i called them and they price matched so just brought one for $9.00 :)

  • Could anyone confirm that this is still valid, or maybe even post a reciept for a price match?
The link attached is listing it at $39 :(

  • Does anybody having any issue connecting to Telstra 3G(prepaid/postpaid)network with this unit? I seem to only be able to connect to Telstra Edge and not 3G(Tried it at various location as well). However, my old vodafone sim card(which came with this unit) is able to connect to 3G.

    • 2G! I've never had that problem.
You've changed the APN to correct Telstra settings?

      • Yup… Changed my APN settings as telstra.internet PAP as security and everything as left it blank - However, I keep getting Telstra Edge and not 3G.
