Office One Wi-Fi Range Extender/Wi-Fi Repeater - $19 Kmart

51

Dropped into kmart and noticed a bunch of stuff reduced including these wifi range extenders.
They look similar to these from gearbest for $15.12 with free shipping and without the wait.

###UPDATE

The general consensus is to hold off until they drop further.
I will grab some when they are $10

how would these compare to the Belkin ones?

Can you link to a banned seller (gearbest)?

    • +1

      I'll break the hyperlink

      • +1

I personally wouldn't even mention them.

      • +1

Sounds good - I'd hate for anyone else bet caught out.

Kmart are great anyway, I'm constantly surprised how good their prices are even compared to Aldi.

  • Gearbest is pure evil. My Android TV stick never arrived. Other previous stuff took two months to arrive. They should even be considered as a credible seller and are rightfully banned from OzB.

    • +2

Then this from kmart is a bargain then because you actually get the product and with 12 months warranty.
Come on then +++ away :)

      • Agreed :)

      • done :)

WEP??? blink This is still 2015 right? I haven't accidentally travelled back in time?

      • +1

Not only WEP, but WPS too. Two of the biggest Wifi vulnerabilities in a device still being sold in 2015. This must be a joke.

  • Has anyone actually used one? Much of the Office One stuff has rubbish firmware.

    • The cameras work great. I have them all around the perimeter of my house running off ispy.
I wouldn't have high (unrealistic) expectations on any of their products to avoid disappointment and their is always kmarts return policy to fall back on.

We'll run great is a bit of an exaggeration. The included software was rubbish and could only record to c:. The firmware was a disaster, and most of the onboard functions don't work. The can't deliver 25fps in ispy, and that was the best 3rd party software that worked. After much playing around I have them running on a synology NAS well, but it took a lot of fiddling around, and basically shifting all the supposed onboard functions (ftp, email, motion detection) to the NAS

You missed the bit where some of them were on the old firmware and the local distributors were useless at helping to obtain the most recent version. If it hadn't been for many people working together on Whirlpool they would have been a complete disaster.

Mine resets itself every so often

        • Ok I'll rephrase.
I am happy with the $19 each I paid for my SC10IP's running on my ozbargain sourced microserver with ispy.

  • None left at Hornsby.

  • Can this be used for mobile phone signal too?
    Please help me right now!!!

    • +1

      No, wifi only.

Only your carrier can supply with a mobile booster. Any others are illegal.

  • has any one used on of these?

  • +4

Really shitty product, most range extenders sub $30 are, imo. Would be good for under a tenner

    • next week it probably will be like they did with the cameras

      • I saw these at this price almost 2 months ago at the Mirrabooka WA store - they're obviously not selling even at that price if stores still have stock.

    • gotta agree here. y'all been warned

  • Which one is the best WiFi extender be able to use in two neighbour house?

    • +1

run a hard cable across the two houses, then buy a good dual band router.

These ones have been around for years and come under various brands.

One of the many with poor reviews on Amazon ^

  • I have been using one of these for years. It works perfectly for me, great range. I would recommend.

  • I got one of these for $15 on clearance at Kmart around 12 months ago. I have it plugged in in my kitchen and only turn it on if I want to sit out on the back deck with my tablet or laptop. Without it I lose signal as soon as I walk out through the back sliding doors, so it works fine for my use. I don't know whether I'd go so far as to recommend one, but for the price, it does the job if you need a little bit of extra wifi reach for casual use.
