Just a bit of background, my partner and I live in a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment and have had some issues with Energy Australia's gas bills, I raised a query about my 2nd bill and admitted there was a problem and retrospectively corrected both the 1st and 2nd bill. We are currently on our third bill and I have just gone through the rounds with them to try to get some sense regarding what is happening. The issue surrounds the Hot water section of the bill (FlexSaver HW-NSW). Please note this is the first time I have had gas, I grew up in a home that was electricity only and our previous apartment did not have gas.
Bill 1 - Base Units x Heating Value (3.4715) x Pressure Value (1.00)
Bill 1 corrected - Base Units x Heating Value (1.00) x Pressure Value (1.00)
Bill 2 - Base Units x Heating Value (1.00) x Pressure Value (3.619)
Bill 2 corrected - Base Units x Heating Value (1.00) x Pressure Value (1.00)
Bill 3 - Base Units x Heating Value (1.00) x Pressure Value (3.674)
I can see the error in Bill 1 (the pressure and heating values are switched), Bill 2 I am happy they changed as the base usage was insanely high (problems with living in an apartment block with no individual hot water meters), Bill 3 they insist is correct (I guess I should count myself lucky that they have been "correcting" my pressure factor to 1.00).
However what does not sit right with me is the canned response of "the pressure factor can very between 1 and 7 between bills", as we all probably know the hot water component is the one that probably has the greatest influence in the gas usage and if this can vary so greatly then the bill can vary greatly. I just wanted to hear from you all regarding the pressure factor for hot water, does yours vary much between bills? What is your pressure factor?
On another note my normal domestic gas pressure (FlexSaver) has fluctuations in the heating value (37.6-38.38) and minor fluctuations in pressure factor (1.026-1.045) both seem reasonable enough especually since the fluctuations are relatively minor.
TL:DR
GAS Hot water pressure value, what is yours and have you seen it fluctuate greatly?
Same thing here.. Gas Bill has gone up 3-4 times due to Pressure Factor.. Pressure Factor from 1 changed to around 4.
It was checked by the technical data team and then they admitted it was a false reading and fixed it to 1.. however the next bills happened to be the same and now instead of fixing the current bill, they have returned the PF from the previous bill from 1 back to 4?
Bill 1 - PF 1
Bill 2 - PF 4 - updated to 1 - now changed back to 4
Bill 3 - PF4
Aim54x - have you solved the PF issue with energy australia? I'm going to call them tomorrow..
I've been paying my bills on time but this time i'm planning not to pay a cent for this last bill as they seem to be really dodgy.
Cheers..
