Original Battlefront was better than the new one? yeah maybe - for the time it was released, (Circa 2005) sure. I know I wasted a big part of my life playing it back in the good old days as well. But are we not comparing Apples vs. Oranges?
I think the one factor that has people most people most upset with the new one is the the on-going transaction model that happens with most modern games, in the form of expansions or progression unlocks (for $$$), but I still think 2015 Battlefront is a good game, that looks great on good hardware and is going to have solid numbers at present, Mainly because of new Star Wars movies and bigger/renewed fanbase - I mean have you been out of your house? I am pretty sure you can get Star Wars x Mulch from Bunnings right now the saturation is so strong. The franchise is on everyone's mind (by choice or not).
AFAIK Online numbers are still high on the 2015 Battlefront Multiplayer for both PS4/XBONE and PC. So not sure it has tanked yet, I imagine a AAA release this close to xmas also has big numbers to come from the Gift side of things?
To me, Shawnsmaggot's Comment reads to me as if he was referring to the Original Battlefront - which isn't even available on Origin, pretty sure its multiplayer is nerfed since the death of GameSpy and you need to use GameRanger for servers which although a valid workaround, would make it it a PITA for most people.
But who really knows what he meant. If only there was a way to find out?
Eh, I play for about 2-3 hours a night and I've never noticed a lack of players (this is on PS4 though)

This is the current state of PC games. If it's not CS:GO, LoL or Dota 2, good luck finding local players.

I was looking forward to it. But didn't buy it when they didn't do space battles which was an integral part of the previous games. I was expecting them to do some overpriced release day DLC to gouge twice so thought no way.

I keep telling myself I paid less than this (thanks to $50 free ebay voucher). And I was pretty happy the first week.
But now I can barely get a game, there is a maximum of 2 game modes a night I could actually join. One is fighter squadron since everyone is just trying to level up as quickly as possible. The other is either blast (team deathmatch), hero hunt (haven't been able to play that in over a week) or walker assault (again, been a while).
Have never managed to get a game of Droid Run, or Cargo. Haven't managed to play drop zone in the last couple of weeks (which was my favourite in the beta and just after launch).
The matchmaking system and lack of server browser have really broken the game. I'm often placed in games with terrible lag, or like I say I just can't get a game.
The game itself is arcadey action, with beautiful visuals and some of the best sound in any game. I'm a huge Star Wars fan, so I have had fun here… just not as much as I could have had if I could play everything provided (which is still less than previous installments).
And to top it all off they've used the prequel pansy ass kiwi Boba Fett instead of the real deal from the original films and expanded universe FFS.
I'll keep levelling up (in Fighter Squadron with everyone else now I don't have many options) and hope I'll find some more players in the upper tier. As well as keep tweeting my disappointment to EA and hope they eventually give us an option to play anyone on any server in the future.
Which platform is this on? I mostly just play Fighter Squadron and a bit of blast. I haven't noticed a drop in players (on PS4) but maybe just because I haven't been playing the other modes.
On PC. The only thing worse than not playing a game would be playing on console.
@Abaddon: Each to their own. I actually do the majority of my gaming on PC but personally I feel like Battlefront, with its arcadey mechanics, designed to make the game accessible to players of all skill levels, is best played with a gamepad.

I really don't know any PC gamers who pirate games anymore. Especially with online distribution and multiplayer focus these days. That and the games are cheaper on PC to begin with.
Every time I look at any kind of pirate site I see console games being shared.
The game is garbage which is why PC players didn't buy it.
It's the same reason we don't buy consoles.

I did not know that EA release this title under the "Battlefront" name. I had thought it would be Battlefront 3.

This game doesn't deserve the 'Battlefront' branding. It's not even remotely close to the having the rich content or gameplay the first two Battlefronts had.
The only thing it's got going for it is the awesome graphics but everything else just smells of blandness, mediocre and casual gameplay.
If this game had been made by the original Pandemic Studios (now owned by EA) this game would've been a great success, but for now it's just another game that EA (King Midas) has touched and has turned into pile of golden poop.

I think I picked up Battlefront 2 on steam for like $15 Aus in a sale last year.
Absolutely FANTASTIC game, a real classic. But that price is very rich for a game that is dead (in the Multiplayer scene)
