hi all
We just finished our dispute against the landowner, and I'd like to share our experience so won't have same troubles as we had.
We have been honest tenant living for many years in the same unit. Overtime, we did accidentally few damages for which we were liable and willing to pay for them.
We informed the real-estate agent when each accident happened (some are few years back).
Overall we have been good and reliable tenants for years, and the relationship with the real-estate was friendly.
Until when we left the premises:
1) The real-estate didn't inform us of the Final Inspection
2) The real-estate gave us extravagant quotes for the repairs
3) Ask for $500 of cleaning when we spend 5 hours cleaning (included 2 hours of professional cleaning)
We disputed the bond at the court today, we can sum-up by saying they take the side of real-estate agent. Business first, people after, that's my feeling.
We were pressured to accept the quotes "as it is". Long day, the tribunal just wanted to close the matter as quickly as possible.
We learnt something today, I'd like to share with you:
Makes your own quotes before leaving!!!
It doesn't matter if the real-estate is honest or not, they are just interested of what you can prove.
I hope this will help.
Take plenty of dated pictures when you move in and when you move out.
