  • Note to those who want to get Jetstar price match. Jetstar will only match advertised prices :(

    • It is advertised? - in the app! =)

I just jumped on a chat session, and the rep confirmed this can be used for pricebeat.

      • I have just talked to tiger and they have said they can't match the app.

        • +3

You need to talk to Jetstar :)

        • +1

          @tightarse:
          Lol I mean jetstar!

        • @minniethemoocher: can you pm me the rep name?

        • +1

@minniethemoocher: Maybe try again with a different rep?

        • @tightarse:
Fair enough I guess it depends on the rep.

        • Did you go through the booking process? They said they can't match the app as they don't have the app and they need a 'screenshot' to do it :(

        • @aurz:
Yes I went through the live chat, they said they didn't have access to the app so they couldn't match it. They didn't mention a screen shot, will that work?

        • @minniethemoocher:

No… I offered a screenshot and they said they have to take it themselves…

          I've tried 4 reps! :(

          Update:

Definitely won't price match with the app. I spoke to the supervisor they said they need a screenshot and they are not allowed to have 'smartphones' in their office.

        • +1

          @aurz:
I've had to take a screenshot twice before when Tiger was 'blocking their IP addresses'.
They accepted my own screenshot. Did not require them to make a screenshot.

        • @xsacha:

The plot thickens! How did you send it to them? They said they don't have email too!

Only thing I can think of is cause Tiger was down… their argument is the Tiger 'desktop' website says x… and won't take the 20% off banner as enough :(

        • +1

@aurz: I sent them a link to imgur.com both times, which worked fine.

It had to include the price and dates/times.

        • Like TA said, if the rep you're speaking to isn't helping you out, simply disconnect and try again with a new rep.

  • excellent thanks TA

  • Man, I just booked a flight last night. Would they somehow refund 20% if I asked?

    • +1

Nope hence I just use the bank deposit method. It allows you up to 9 working days to pay for your flight and gives you the option to re-book another flight if there was something cheaper.

      • Bank deposit method? Can you explain how this works? I hate booking stuff months in advance only to miss a deal.

        • Login in with your username and password at the section where Jetstar asks you for passenger details, then continue along until you reach the payment section. There should be a bank deposit option that you can choose. After you selected that option Jetstar will put your reservation on hold for upto 9 business before the reservation expires.

      • +2

Turn out the app is only for flights originating from Australia and Bali. Phew I skip the 'missing the deal' ozb virus

  • Oh too late, already booked flights for family yesterday :(

  • +1

Doesnt' appear to include domestic flights.

EDIT: There are two apps, make sure you get the right one.

    • Tiger Australia is wholly owned by Virgin Australia now. Perhaps they should have changed their name to avoid confusion.

  • Holiday flight has been booked. Does it work for car rental?

  • Does it do domestic?

  • Awesome deal.

Really wish tiger would add Townsville to their list so I could get some cheap flights up during the NRL season :)

anyone who has successfully got a price match from Jetstar able to give us a reference number to help convince the agent?

  • +1

Please? or may be PM me the reference number? I've spent the last hour still arguing with the agent and they said they have NOT processed any price match from Tiger app…

If I'm successful I'll post more detail on how to do it!

  • I am not aware of any one successfully getting a Jetstar price match using the Tiger App. However happy to be proven wrong.

    • Well xsacha said he did by sending through the screenshot to imgur as above.

      • I read it to say he has booked using a screen shot before, he didn't say it was today.

        • ok, may be that's the case then.

Would love to know if someone can confirm a success in price matching the Tiger app!

  • And I just booked tickets on Tiger this afternoon :(

  • +1

Thanks TA. Brisbane to Darwin for the V8's $121 return. mobile app was quite good also.

    • +1

What dates did you get that price for?

      • The flights are on special for $65 up to the 22 June, booking via the mobile app bought it down to $52 each way plus $16 Card booking fee.

    • When did you see discount as I have picked a flight, put in all the details & am up to the add CC bit. However their is nothing shown yet re the 20% off or the booking fee either yet…. * Sorted worked out app shows discounted price already displayed****

  • Tried multiple times with different operators for a price match, but it's a no go. Oh well, might as well check out tigerair's new uniforms.

  • I can't actually select domestic routes in the Tigerair app. :/

    • You need to install the TigerAir AU app.

  • I can't find the stupid app. There's TigerAir (which I understand is Asia international flights). Then there's suppossed to be TigerAir AU, but it ain't coming up in the app store. Really working hard for this 20%.

Anyone got a clue about this? Or am I completely missing something??

    • You do realise there's a link to the app in my description?

      • Yes. I literally just scrolled up and found it when you replied. lol.
Must be the Ozbargainer in me… too eager to grab the deal.

      • But in fairness to my otherwise mostly intelligent self…

If you are looking for it directly on an iPad (without going through iTunes)
If you type in TigerAir AU and no results come up, its because its an iPhone only app. So Take off the Ipad only filter, then you will see it.
        :)

        • Cheers mate :)

  • Booked flights for 20% off in school holidays! Tigerair were already the cheapest so a further 20% off is awesome. Thanks TA!

I know you can use an Australian Mastercard Debit Card to avoid booking fees ($68 for a return flight for a family of 4).

Have been looking at the Coles and Woolies Prepaid Mastercards.

    Issues:
Coles Reloadable Card has a limit of $1000. Woolies limit is only $500.
So if your flights are more than that it might not work.

Also I'm unsure if they are technically "Debit" cards. They're obviously not credit cards, but they don't have the word Debit on the card. Usually Prepaid Or Reloadable or something similar. Has anyone had any success booking Tiger Air flights with a prepaid/reloadable supermarket Mastercard?

Seems that both my banks (ANZ and Citibank) don't do MC Debit Cards and I am loath to open yet another bank account just to get a card I will use a couple of times a year for booking flights.

So if anyone has any other bright ideas…?

    cheers

Just got off the phone with Tiger Air. Their opinion is that Prepaid and Reloadable cards are treated as credit cards because unlike Debit cards they are not linked to a bank account.
I guess the only way to know for sure is to get one and try. There is apparently a step in the checkout process that gets you to authorise the additional booking fees.

  • @stuckster
Woolies reloadable card- You can load amounts up to $10k ($2k per load).

  • Very smart move by Tiger - now Jetstar won't price beat their fares, and those customers wanted the lowest prices will fly tiger.

    Ha.
