Need Mobile Plan and iPhone Advice

hi there,
am pretty hopeless to find the best mobile plan deal for wife and myself for new iphone 6s.

we are about to finish our contract on vodafone $60 and 3gb data plan each, that on occasion gets close to max usage for talk and data at the end of month

we were thinking of getting iphone 6s and 6s plus 64gb with a little more data for next 2 years would be nice.

what plan would suit us best in combination? should we go with vodafone again and combine the plan (wife not using as much data usually , but more talking :-)

or is there another provider that suits better? mostly using metropolitan network melbourne/sydney/brisbane

thanks for suggestions

  • TPG use Voda's network now. Check their plans.

heycolombo seems to buy new mobiles also. i don't think TPG provides handset.

  • Vodafone had a shared plan for $38 on a 24 month contract which gives you 6gb data, unlimited calls and text messages and also 120 minutes of international calls, then you can buy an iphone and just add it to the plan

  • Ooh that $1,080*[288GB@ 2Y] Sim-o looks nice,

Maw data versus my (16 *$32)=$512|256gb[2y]
    Predated rchrg 10.67G/m, rip 2012-14 \o/

Here's to porting b/w 7.6G start packs in the New Years; falling back to
    glitch-data 26 Gb mbb/m on broader coverages :>

  • Oh and buy outright. I understand you could also get the nofrills 3G 900Mhz metro Lebarafone for just a few hundred per year. "Lebara"

  • thank you for all your information

not really inn the position to out right buy 2 iphone 6s phones
    any other monthly iphone option?

    what about the virgin 80$ plus 11$ for 9gb 6s 64gb and the 80$ + 25$ 9gb data for 6splus 128gb

or optus 135$ reduced to 100$ contract?

    cheers

  • If you are going to switch providers (ie Vida/Telstra/Optus) their networks differ in network coverage. You should be particularly cautious of where you use the phone the most and if the network coverage is acceptable. It does vary a lot particularly in rural areas.

Best to buy the phones outright but try to buy in one of the discount times (just before or just after Xmas probably would be good). Another trick once you have done that is to get the gst back if you are leaving Australia within 30days. If you are getting someone else to do that for you, be sure to get the invoice in their name.

FYI Optus are getting ultra desparate for market share at the moment. I got a post paid month to month plan (yes!) unlimited calls to oz mobiles n unlimited texts to anywhere, 150 minutes of calls to 32 counties and 3Gb of data for $40 and discounted 50% for the fist six months. The promo ended but other deals have been touted though none as deeply discounted as that. Anything can happen inside 6months when I will ozbargaining again for possibly a new deal. This is a benefit of month to month. The 24month deals can be expensive in comparison to the market in less than 12months.

  • thanks user 167511, month by month 60$ with 7gb 50% off first 6 month still existing, maybe not a bad option then ?

  • Optus currently have unlimited calls sms mms etc $300 International and 10GB for $40/mth on a 12 mth contract….until 03/01/16… New customers only… http://www.optus.com.au/shop/mobilephones/SimBYO?SID=con:pos…

  • thanks driver 33b!

any hints where to best buy iphone outright? or even by monthly installments?

  • No idea…only be carefull buying 'cheap' iPhone off auction sites…there are models within models and some of them are not for Australian frequencies….that's why they are selling cheaply. Check out Apples' website reference model numbers, suitable for Australia. ..http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE/

  • thanks guys, ended up getting vodafone as more reliable network than optus

    6s 64 for 90$ 8gb data
    6s+ 64 for 98$ 8gb data over 24month

basically the rate of a sim only plus the iphones in installments over 24 month

    i think not a bad deal :-)
    what you think ?
