SanDisk Extreme USB 3.0 Drive 64GB $19 @ David Jones

1070

Bought at David Jones today. Limited so worth asking counter.
They had heaps of 8Gb Emtec branded flash drives for $1.
May not be a bargain to all but worth a try asking in store.

They one more @$19 in DJ Hornsby.

  • Bought a 32GB model for $27 a few months ago, this is a great price (if you can find one. Seems like a lot of DJ and DS stock are made of Unobtainium).

Did someone just watch avatar or something? You seem to be using that in all your posts…

      • probably bought the blu-ray for $0.05

      • More like playing too much of Elder Scroll Skyrim…

Since the late 1950s, aerospace engineers have used the term "unobtainium" when referring to unusual or costly materials

        • Well there ya go… new trivia for me.

        • @cyssero: TIL: Unobtainium pre-dates that terrible film reference. Thank you for correcting my assumption.

  • Can DJs staff check stock for all stores?

    • They are powered by DSE, and the Perth DJ store software can check other stores stock levels.
Having said that, I went to a DSE and the store didnt have the software (they have to visit dicksmith.com.au and check).

      • Yeah DJs DSE can check all, paid for an item in DJs picked up at DSE same hour.

Is "asking counter" like talking to a brick wall?

    • +4

It's like talking to a toddler whose vocabulary consists only 1 word -NO

    • Lets just say I'm lucky I met a 'good' salesperson ;)

      • I meet dick so far but I feel should be nicer and want to help customer. I loved make customer happy ozbargen where my fav customer so easy going.

        • Rudd2000? Is that you?

Bargain price, totally amazing flash drives, but unlikely to be generally available. If these were more readily available if be buying several as they are as fast as gen 1 ssd's!

    • Good USB - taken on Holiday and edited photos stored on it. Great read/write speeds.

    • Easily the best USB drives I own, only complaint is they are generally too fat to allow something to be plugged into side-by-side ports.

  • Why not just get 8 8Gb Emtec branded flash drives for $1 :P
    Saving of $11

    • That's what I did - http://imgur.com/IV7N09Q
With all 8 connected I get an phenomenal write speed of 32mb/s!

You have learned well from ozbargain young one.

    • Are they USB 3.0? I can't tell from the photo lol. Regardless, I'll probably head down to my local DJ to get one haha.

      • Emtecs are slow usb 2.0. Copied 7gb to one yesterday - transfer speed roughly 4mb/s after initial peak.

      • Yes they are. Look under his thumb on the left.

  • I already have a few flash drives at home. But none of this speed, quality and price. Buying more 8Gb just means more drives to connect and less usb ports for me :)

  • Thank you for posting! Any chance could get a new photo with the date included also on the receipt ?

    • +1

      Here you go! Receipt image

      • +1

Thank you kindly for posting the receipt with the date. Visited Offceworks and all stores are out of stock, so may end of product life or such.

      • Cools. Can I have the expiry and CVV as well? Don't worry about the card number - already got that off of the receipt image. :p

        • +1

hahaha..thats why I folded the receipt to hide the expiry etc… :D

Closest price to this was $33 from MSY awhile ago.

  • Very very fast USB- write speeds of over 100MB/s. Nice

I've had the exact same SanDisk Extreme 64GB for over 5 years now, still going strong!
Best one I've ever had. Amazing little thing. Great price.

    • As far as i can tell they're still the best USB flash pen drives around.

  • None left in chatswood. Plenty of the emtec 8gb sie/three packs remaining.

  • +1

Great deal, but none left in stores, (chatswood, burwood)

  • pretty good deal
got one in sept and its was around 50aud

  • didn't know DavidJones sells electronic gadgets?? not for that price surely? I remember the days when I bought a 512mb USB mp3 player for $50 bucks!

  • Great find.

Just plonk the store in the title. I know it's clear in the picture but it's helpful if it's at the top.

    Thanks.

  • can post a better pic of drive and receipt so find out ##1234 number on it.

  • currently have 2 of these. the transfer speed averages 180mb/s for me

  • OP did you realize you have shown your credit card number in the picture. Please edit the pic and hide the number, might be good idea to cancel or check your credit card transactions.

  • Bought a heap for $19 at MSY before. Looks like I'll be adding more to the collection.

  • David Jones should not show the whole credit card number on the receipt at all.

  • Went to Canberra DJ this morning and was told they don't even have a Tech section :(

  • The David Jones in the Queen Street Mall (Brisbane) didn't have these, plenty of the cheapie 8gig ones (3 sticks for $8).

I picked up in the same store though a Dick Smith branded 64gig USB 3 stick for $20; couldn't complain (they had at least 3 left of these from memory).

  • That's a really good price.
Fyi, I tried to price match with Officeworks, and unless it was on their website, they can't price match (Even if I took copies of the receipts)

Can anyone confirm if there is any stock in VIC?

  • Good for Xenoblade Chronicles X data pack!

  • Friend of mine was told there was no stock left in NSW.

  • None in DJ parramatta
