Cheap Portable Reversed Cycle Air Conditioner Recommendations?

Hey everyone,

I'm after a relatively cheap portable air conditioner to cool/heat our small-medium size lounge room and also roll into the bedrooms for comfort. I'm not too sure what all the specifications mean, but I've basically narrowed it down to these 2 units for price (inc free shipping at the moment) from Kogan:

https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-12000-btu-portable-air-co…
https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/reverse-cycle-4-1-portable-air-…

I'm not too sure what the difference between these two really is besides looks, the specs showed a few variances and they look different obviously, but the price is the same for both, not too sure which is the better buy, or whether anyone would recommend a better deal elsewhere?

Any feedback is much appreciated!

  • Dont you mean "Cheap Portable Reverse Cycle Air Conditioner Recommendations?

Kogans eBay price jumped to $435 this morning.

      I changed the title accordingly.

The website has them both for $369 with free shipping.

  • I'm not sure where you're living or if you're near a Costco, but I bought one at Costco recently for about $500. Does a decent job, with the opportunity to return if not completely satisfied.
These portable units are ok for rentals, but nowhere near as efficient as a proper air conditioning solution. I'm dreading getting my power bill when it comes as I've estimated that it could easily be a few extra hundred $$, so factor that in as well. I'm not sure if cheaper portable units are more/less energy efficient than dearer ones, but if they are, going for a cheap unit might not save you money in the long run.
