(iOS Universal) Content Blocker+ (Upgrade to Pro for Free)

760

Content Blocker+ is a new kind of app. It works directly with Safari to block unwanted ads and trackers, which speed up web browsing, lower data usage and improve the battery life of your device.

Benefits of Content Blocker+

Much faster web browsing
Lower data usage
Improved battery life while using Safari
One tap whitelisting without leaving Safari

Content Blocker+ does not track your web usage in order to work. Instead it provides a set of rules to Safari which then blocks the content automatically. Simply enable Content Blocker+ in the settings app and it 'just works'.

Settings -> Safari -> Content Blockers

Content Blocker+ is a universal app and is optimized for all 64 bit devices that run iOS9.

  • Anyone know any good app to block youtube ads on ipad??? It buggering me…

BTW download/Google "ad block' for those want to block ads on your laptop and computer. Make your firebox run faster

      • Thanks, will check it out later…

        • It offers in app purchase.

      • Does it block ads in the YouTube app or just the website?

        • Just website.

        • I wouldn't recommend paying for any app that says it blocks ads in youtube app as most of them are just looting your money.

    • To block within the app you will need to Jailbreak.

    • Here in my garage…

    • I use ProTube, it blocks youtube ads and is a way better app than the Youtube app itself. While it's a paid app I think it's worth it and has lots of other features like playing in the background.

    • +1

ProTube is great, there is also the free Tubex which is also great, but it has a truckload of ads (from the app, not the video) that do become annoying, and there's surprisingly no IAP to get rid of it.

    • ublock origin is the best ad blocker on desktop

  • Thanks opieeeeeeeeeee.
Now we can all browse OzBargain on our phones without the ads… xD

    • You can turn them off in your user settings…

      • I don't really care in all honesty.
The ads on OzBargain aren't annoying and don't really bother me.

  • Sweet! Been looking for this type of thing for ages! Was using a proxy type that was so slow..

And don't forget to upgrade for free!! :D

  • anyone know a good ad blocker for safari on the Mac? Never experienced so many pop ups in my life; even on my Windows

    • You will have to search safari extensions. Try this https://safari-extensions.apple.com/details/?id=com.coryboho…

You could use Chrome and get AdBlock on it

      • +1

I'd recommend avoiding adblock plus. Companies can pay to get their ads whitelisted (and so you will see ads unless you tick a box hidden in the settings), and it uses a ridiculous amount of ram. Ublock origin for chrome and Firefox is where it's at. It's open source, and you can even block non-ad elements, like those annoying pop up Subscribe to our newsletter things.

        • which is better for Mac? chrome or Firefox ? preferably one that doesn't hog all resources seeing as I have the Low end Mac ( 11 inch)

        • +1

@alvy: I always use chrome and would highly recommend it.

        • @alvy:
          Chrome. Hands down

        • +1

@alvy: Safari uses much lesser resources than Chrome.
Use uBlock as a low resource add blocker.

Iphone 5S and above only unfortunately

    • Blame goes to Apple.

  • OKI installed it.

How do you add a site to the Whitelist without going into the App?

It told me first time I went into the Whitelist section, but I forgot or can't find it.

    • +1

Open website in Safari > tap on share button > In third and last row tap on more and you will find the option there.

      • Thanks !

  • How does this content blocker app compare with others like "Crystal"?

    Thanks in advance.

    • Review by a user on this app's iTunes page

I had crystal installed and I was still seeing lots of adds. I installed this and I started seeing lots of blank spaces where the ads used to be. Recommend.

  • I could be wrong, but without the ads, how will the website owners make money? If everyone blocks ads, it might lead to paying to browse the internet on top of paying for data.

    • Some website owners fill their websites with ads and annoying popups like it is hard to distinguish between genuine website data and ads moreover, some popups or links lead to websites that scam people, while the website owners know about it, they do not remove those ads. This is the reason why i block ads.
