Woolworths Dollars - Surprise Credit

Hi All,

Went to Woolies today and bought a few items. To my surprise, I had earned 3 Woolworths Dollars despite no purchases with orange tags.

This was the list of items from the receipt: (is there any way of uploading this?)
Broccoli $1.93
Essential Colour Markers Pack 36 $3.99
Pura Full Cream Milk 3L $4.49
Ferrero Rocher 16PK $6.00
Nuttelex Spread 500G $2.85

I asked at the checkout which item earned the credit but she wasn't able to tell me.

What do you guys think the credit was for? I wouldn't mind buying a few more of it lol

Possibly a scanning error but I doubt they would have corrected it.

Yeh could be this OP, check your emails as it wasn't an offer that needed to be activated. You probably had $7 in Woolworths dollars and buy making a purchase of any amount during the week they would make up the difference to $10 giving you $3 of wow dollars.

I got this email which says I'll get $2 for making any purchase, not bad ;)

        Thanks for your feedback!

I re-checked emails and couldn't locate any such offer but I guess that theory makes the most sense considering the items I bought are unlikely to provide $3 credit, well not individually anyway.

Also you were spot on with the Woolworths Dollars balance. I had $7.75 before the shop today which backs up your claim.

    • Yep I also got $10 off when spending $10 or over at big w email.

      • yeh i got the big w email too. I activated it, went to big w and spent $11.. but nothing on the receipt about free $10. I'm really quite pissed off

        • really
          so it didn't work?
          that sucks

        • How soon after activating the offer did you shop at Big W? With the Woolworths Rewards offers I've received recently, the Ts & Cs state that you have to activate the offer at least 2 hours before shopping, so I wonder if the Big W offer is the same? If you did shop after the required "wait time" (if there is one) and it still didn't work, then I'd be pretty p*ssed off too - ring them up and tell them it didn't work, they should be able to see the offer registered on your card.

        • Went to use my $10 voucher and no discount came up after I scanned my wollies card so left the item at the registers and walked off

        • I activated mine last night about 9PM and used in store about 10am today with no success

        • Worked for me on two cards. The discount took a while to show on the screen, and the second time it only appeared after I clicked to pay. $22.16 worth for $2.16!

    • I got the same, $10 free from big w and same with my wife, also got the free $5 if I make a purchase at woolworths

This is why the new system is guaranteed to be replaced soon.
It's purpose is to influence your spending. The people on this site and very keen to spot a bargain, but the system is too complex/arbitrary even for us to get best value from it.
So it is failing at its most basic purpose.

I have had the same outcomes. I got $10 once, on a $12 spend (it was marked down IT accessories mainly) don't know what for. $4 another time on a $20 spend, mainly marked down bread and meat. Then I spend $220 doing a big Xmas shop the other night and got 40c.
It is a frustratingly stupid system.

    • indeed

well the more we complain the better!

I for one aint loyal to any supermarket chain, i'm loyal to the lowest price! will shop at aldi, coles, IGA, woollies depending on who has sales and is cheapest!

guess its easier cause I live in the suburbs with choice in one shopping centre

    • hmm sounds like they want us to enjoy the whole gambling aspect of shopping with them. Will we get bonus dollars somehow or not this time? Who knows! How thrilling! Gotta be in it to win it!

After all, Woolies are fond of pokie machines right?

(post is tongue in cheek btw)

      • Well the supermarkets (and service stations) in Vegas have poker machines so it's not like it hasn't been done before. :)
