Best Current Internet Deal?

I am currently with iinet/adam internet and am moving home. While requesting to switch ive been told that there will be a $100 switch fee, it will take 3 weeks and cost $10per month more (now $70pm) because my current plan has been grandfathered. So i thought i would take the opportunity to see if its worth switching to another provider if theres a better deal out there. I was getting 200gb pm but i probably could get away with around 50gb and its naked as i didnt want to pay for a phone line. Any suggestions?
They have now offered to drop the $100 fee to $40.

maybe: exetel $40/mth for 50+50GB peak/off +$80 setup, comes bundled with land line, but you need not use it.

    • Do you know if its contract?

      • I got the $80 setup fee waived on a one year contract .. dunno if they still do that.

      • 12 months, or no contract if you pay $130 setup

    • Im on that plan and its 45/month not 40, 45 a month applies to nbn for 100 gb too, $59 to set up though

Is your new area scheduled for NBN anytime soon?
That''l determine whether you should get a contract or not.

Will it have Foxtel Cable down the street?
Do you care about speed/service at all?

  • I dont mind paying extra for good service. I dont want it bundled with anything and i think the NBN might be coming my way soon. Good point.

    • Tesltra "Naked" Cable can be had for $69 for 200Gb.
You have to find the right Customer Service rep to get it though.
If your area is getting NBN and you have cable you'll be getting NBN via Cable anyway.

There is little by way of savings going naked. The line rental is factored in regardless since the ISP has to rent the line for Telstra.
The other thing is that Naked has little by way of voltage on the line unlike a conventional PSTN line with a dial tone. The lack of voltage to 'wet' the cable has a long term detrimental effect on the cable by way of corrosion of joints leading to drop-outs and slow speeds. That is theoretically, however I have had naked for 6 years so far without trouble. One other point is that you are not covered under the Universal Service Obligation for line health and maintenance as with a PSTN line.
