Corner TV Cabinet / Too Small Hole for New TV, Anyway to Mount It Some How?

hey guys,

my mum has this very expensive wooden tv cabinet that currently houses a 20 year old CRT TV, but I bought hew a huge LCD tv for christmas.

the cabinet looks like this https://i.imgur.com/drLsZU5.jpg

is there anyway at all to mount the TV to the front of this cupboard without damaging the tv corner unit itself ?

  • Without modifying it AT ALL - only by putting a big board on the shelf with a huge weight at the back to balance the TV and the board sticking out the front with the TV on it.
Much more practical - use a tv arm mounted inside the cabinet bolted on somewhere you wont see it. Or screw/clamp a couple of planks over the open tv gap and put a wall mount there.

    • that looks very possible with the tv swing arm bracket thing…. I'll look into it :)

      thanks

do you know if the brackets can be screwed into the top or bottom or does it have to go in the side or rear? I might be able to get a plank of wood behind the cabinet and then screw the mount through the back and into the plank of wood if that will help strengthen it

      • There are plenty of monitor mounts designed to bolt or clamp to a desk surface, tho i am not sure how many would take the load as they normally adjust vertically.

  • Why not return the TV for a smaller one that fits in the cabinet. Does you mum want a huge TV?

    • good idea, I have sent DSE a message asking if it's possible to cancel the order before it's shipped out. Hopefully they reply to me in time.

no matter how much I looked at it, it either means I'm gonna drill into this cabinet and she wont be too impressed with that at all

      thanks for your advice :)

Two options: ditch the cabinet, or smaller TV. I can't see a way of mounting a big TV to the front that won't make it front heavy and also require fixing it to the wall to stop it falling over.

  • edit: nvm (on consideration, my option is not feasible)
