Replacing RAC - Car Insurance (Coles or Others?)

Just wondering if anyone had any experience dealing with the Coles car insurance? I haven't quite gotten a quote yet but I perceive it'd be cheaper than RAC.

I've got a 09 honda civic (MY08) i got in Dec 13, and at the time premiums was about 720. Bumped up to nearly 800-820 in dec 14, and due in a few days time it's now 890.

Given i've gone from 49k on th eodometer to 69k, I didn't think it was a high mileage, high risk car and premiums seemed to be jumping.Thinking of jumping ship for some savings.

Any recommendations on coles, or competitors perhaps? I Don't want to go cheap at the expense of some nasty fine print or conditions, so far RAC in the past (for family cars) has been pretty easy to ring up and put accidents through or the like. Worried that something cheap offered through the likes of a supermarket would be a pain in the buff to get service or to deal with issues?? I'm being quite presumptous however!

I would eventually have my own house built by next year so if it helps, maybe there's a provider that gives bulk discount for combining insurance bit by bit? Please let me know if so! :) Thanks

You could get a quote from coles and get qbe to beat it.

  • Try compare the market I found it much cheaper

Ridiculous. They are gouging people who are complacent and do not shop around on renewal.. Cars get cheaper and premiums should reflect that

  • Coverage terms, claims experience and complaints statistics are far more important than price. Speaking from the perspective of seeing nearly 15 years of our finance clients (motor, mortgage and commercial) who have vehicles, homes/investment properties & businesses they are insuring - cheap is always cheap for a reason. There is no such thing as a free lunch in the insurance game. Chase price after ensuring coverage and terms are identical and you aren't dealing with an insurer that has a reputation for being difficult (resulting in a large number of complaints). You can see the stats for insurance complaints here: http://www.fos.org.au/public/download/?id=38200&sstat=313012 (check out page 26 of 32 - RAC has one of the lowest complaints scores).

That said, if you're keen to replace them - perhaps this deal from topbargains is worth a look? https://www.topbargains.com.au/allianz-comprehensive-car-ins… (NB: Allianz does multi-policy discounts - which is definitely something to ask about bc they will typically give a healthy discount if you combine car/contents/house insurance).
