Why Does Chrome Completely Exit (All Tabs) Randomly on Laptop?

Halp!

I'm using a new laptop and it's been taking some getting used to. Quick facts: using Chrome, running Win 8.1 (nightmare for me), laptop is an Asus F550C. Not sure if this is relevant but I am using a wireless mouse and the built in mousepad thingy cannot be deactivated (like it could be on my old HP Laptop) - I say this might not be relevant because when I type, my hands aren't anywhere near the built in mousepad anyway.. so can't imagine that's causing any conflict. Or could it?

ANYWAY. Word fluff!

Issue: Lately I've been typing away in Chrome and the browser has exited completely, suddenly/randomly. I can't tell whether it's correlating to me hitting certain keys or not - doesn't seem to be.

So confused. Anyone else had this issue? Any tech savvy peeps know how I could investigate or solve it?

It's a PITA obviously because I could be near the end of a lengthy post and it'll be lost just like that.

Isn't just a problem unique to one website either, as far as I've noticed.

So frustrating.

I read that in the past, a few people also reported this kind of issue, but it was supposedly fixed.

Have you tried updating chrome or updating java?

You could try deactivating "Predict network actions to improve page load performance" if it's a certain letter key stroke on the address bar triggers the crash.

I recommend installing the Lazarus extension to recover text that is lost in these circumstances. If you want to disable the trackpad, as best I can tell with a Google image search of your keyboard it is [Fn]F9. It's the same on my Asus laptop.
