I have the old air Aircon o which does not have an inbuilt timer in it. Now I dont want the Aircon to run the entire night but only for a few hours and turn itself off at night without me getting up to turn it off.
Is there a way to time my Aircon to turn off after few hours?

Are you able to find me a link please? I hav had a look at timers and I got confused as they say 24 hr or 7 day.
I only wish to use it when ever I want and set my timer everyday to my need and something that is not ongoing?
You could try a Wemo
If you have Wifi at home you can control the wemo with the wemo app on android or IOS from anywhere ,so you can turn it on before you get home. Also you can set up a timer function if you wish.

Timer will only work if it's three pin plug ..most Aircons are hard wired.
My aircon is just in a standard 3 pin plug. its the old rectangular one not a split
@nocure: Thanks. You reckon this would suits my requirements?
Don't buy those mechanical timers, they make clicking noises all night and you'll hear it in your bedroom.
The digital / electronic variants are what you'll want

http://www.bunnings.com.au/excalibur-7-day-mini-digital-time…Check to see if the plug is NOT a 15 Amp rated one, if it is you can not use those timers. Most of the older wall/window types are rated at 15 Amps
@scrimshaw: If hes got an old aircon, i doubt the ticking will make a difference. But i agree, they do make a noise
just roll over and nudge your partner awake so they turn it off :)
I think we have something like this
http://www.bunnings.com.au/hpm-24-hour-timer-2-pack_p7052868You set it to the time you want something on, and when you want it to be off. When you don't want to use the timer there is a switch in the side to switch it off.

scrimshaw is right though, they do make a ticking noise (if you can hear it)
"they do make a ticking noise (if you can hear it)"
Does that mean that if you cannot hear it then it does not make the noise?
What if you were in the middle of a forest with Rene Descartes?Well, if you've got an old aircon, it's probably so loud you can't hear the noise. That's what i was getting at.
Thanks a lot for the help guys!!
You can buy a timer from burnings. Sorry but I don't exactly know what it is called
