After watching that Airways program you'd have to be a desperate mug to fly with this 2 bit operation. Caveat Emptor.

  • Yes, that program is not good for Tiger.

I remember they have Sydney - Melbourne $28 one way. So 2 for $60 deal is not really best deal and if you are flying by yourself, I suppose you don't get any deal?

    • They only price the flights per person so its $30 each way.

    • That airway program just makes Tiger look bad. It's like trying to retell a story but only talking about the negatives.

I feel that airways shows how much of idiots some people are and they don't read the info everywhere over the page.
I'm a lucky one i have flown with them around 9 times never had a problem biggest delay was 15 mins jetstar for the other hand had some bad luck with that.
I like virgin out off all of them worth the extra money

      • I agree. I have flown with Tiger serveral times and had no problems whatsoever.

        • I usually fly 2-3times a week from Canb-Melb. I love these $60 return trips, saves me ALOT of money. Jetstar doesn't come to Canb, so i cannot compare with that airlines.

However its a 1hour flight, i don't care much about comfort as long as it saves me like $60 per trip!

If it was a 9hour trip then I'd definably go for the more expensive and more comfortable option.

As for delays. I have yet to experience a delay with Tiger where Tiger was responsible for the delay.
All the delays I've had were due to weather, which caused airports to shut down.

  • am I able to use jetstars 10% price beat with these?

    thanks

And it wouldn't be an airline sale without Adioso chiming in with the search links to help you find the discount flights…

Having flown both Tiger and Jetstar I must say I prefer Jetstar for two main reasons:

1.You can check-in online with Jetstar which means you can allocate which seat you would like (without having to pay for premium sections which Tiger makes you do). That way you can just walk in quite close to the take-off time (without having to go through the check-in lines) and away you go. Also the waiting areas are in the standard terminals and are of a high quality, whilst Tiger's waiting areas have a distinct "herded cattle" vibe.

2.The seats on Jetstar are leather (or at least they feel like it to me) and there is more leg-room than Tiger.

Waiting times are the biggest issue though. For fear of being a victim of the 45 min cut-off for check-in with Tiger - you feel you need to get there waaay early. I guess it comes down to how much you feel your time is worth.

    • I would prefer Jetstar anytime than Tiger
      45min cut-off time is a joke(I'm not a victim, but I've seen a lot)
Tiger does not allow early check in like others airlines,
      and being different waiting location/airport,
if you get there early…you can't go anywhere else!!

      • I have noticed, the 45min cutoff time isn't that bad.
IF you arrived after that 45min cut off time, then you are screwed.

If you arrived like 10-15min earlier and you see there is a long long queue. They appear to allow you to cut the line now, since the tellers will keep shouting "Next to <almost closing flight>"….

Or they will open a "express queue" for ppl only to the next closing flight.

Can't say if they do it in other airports but i know they do it in Melbourne International and Canberra.

    • I dont think thats worth the extra 50 plus dollars for a flight (I fly from melb to perth mainly)

      • That's exactly what's great about the competitive environment in the Australian airline industry at the moment.

Some people are willing to accept the drawbacks to save a few bucks on Tiger. Others find their service intolerable and will pay more for Jetstar. Some find Jetstar's service intolerably poor and insist on VirginBlue or Qantas.

Ultimately we're all winners as we can make a choice.

        • its amazing how few complaints you here about virgin blue though - On just about every site, whirlpool, news.com.au, here, everyone has an axe to grind about a particular airline. 95% of the time that airline is not virgin blue :-)

LOL, I think ppl like VirginBlue's service is because the airline chicks are hot. Who would knock hot chicks???

And Qantas "chicks" are mature and attractive to some. haha

  • Jetstar will soon be giving out thousands of $1 tickets for jetmail and jetstar mastercard members

    • Its not for "jetmail" or "jetstar mastercard members". Its for as quoted in the email.

THOUSANDS OF $1 FARES will be available on selected domestic routes, exclusively for JetMail members who have applied, cardholders and those whose applications are pending.

ended up matching jetstar to tiger for 4 tickets to melbourne from sydney return.

ended up being $61.30 return flying end of march.

was stoked about the price :D
