I recently purchased a Samsung 6400 and when I scan for channels it doesn't find any. Do I need to plug in a digital set top box? Or buy an antenna?
Thanks

I've plugged in an old antenna I was using with my old tv. I tried scanning again and channels were found, though a few of them aren't working due to poor reception
How old?
Umm had it a fair few years, it's one of those bunny rabbit ear type antennas
@Heracles26:
They won't pickup a decent signal you need a digital antenna installed on the roof.
@nocure: that is not quite accurate. I have been using rabbit ears antennas for my TV sets at home for the past 7 years. I can get every single channel on free to air TV in Sydney plus a few from Wollongong.
I'm in the northern beaches
Local antenna, or cable that goes to a full size antenna on the roof?
Local antenna
Have you tried replacing the antenna cable?
Does your antenna get digital TV?
Can you post a picture of what happens when you scan - is there a error message or anything?
better install a proper antenna on the roof.
Just throw the TV out, its broked.
You will need a proper antenna installed on your roof.
I live within eyesight of the TV transmission towers and I still need an external antenna. And because of multiple TV outlets in the house, a booster as well. Perfect viewing except when there is heavy rain and the digital signal is lost. If you are renting, you may be able to get a gutter clip-on antenna that will do the job.
Get an expert to install a new external antenna it cost me $500 to get one done early this year and the reception is now prefect.
I am in Western Sydney and traditional all the antennas point towards nothing Sydney now it points towards Windsor.
The TV has its own tuner.
If the old TV worked with the same antenna and cable, then it's not following the manual.
If you eliminate all of the above, then you have a crook TV - unusual, but not unheard of.
