Yes the accessories prices are expensive, ended up buying the $199 kit as well to get all the parts I wanted (cheaper that way, with some spares just in case).
The $144 kit has two IR sensors while the $199 kit has one?

Yes you can use the Android App Connect2home to get alerts and turn off and on remotely
Keep in mind that the phone app uses text messages. So I don't think it's practical to use the app on a daily basis.
The unit doesn't have any wifi capability

Seems good so far.
I use the aldi mobile $5 which can last for a year, it's perfect for these kind of thing.
the cons are mainly fairly limited accessories that is sold in Australia, and I think the outdoor bell box is very expensive.
you could get that from appliances online for less than RRP + cashrewards, that's the cheapest place I've found to buy the accessories.
