Well, I have seen a few deals and read the sales in the papers.
Well yesterday I left the Doncaster store feeling like I had been DICKed. Complete waste of my time.
Up to 60% off Cordless phones, yet every phone I picked up was at full RRP (only after getting scanned as they did not have price tags).
Even worse, the Uniden my Dad wanted was $163.16 at Dick Smith online, yet full $199 instore at DS with a big "up to 60% off" sign on it.
Pretty sure this is called bait advertising.
The Blueray players "30% off Display and clearance lines"
Sony BDPS1500 Was labeled Was $129 now $109 save $20. This scanned at full $129 (Online DS is selling for $101.25 today)
Sony BDPS6500 Was labeled Was $199 now $169 save $30. This scanned at full $199 (Online DS is selling for $154.42 today)
All they said was those are old price tags and those prices are no longer valid the players are now full price.
Now they are still rubbish prices so I was not going to argue with them to honor the price.
Anyway, I bumped into a fellow OzBargainer and he mentioned that the guys at DS Doncaster were useless yet he had great service at DS Camberwell.
How has your local DS store been treating this sale?
After my experience I will now be less likely to shop at DS in the future.
Those fateful words, 'Up to'
