Oral-B Pro 650 Electric Toothbrush - $49.95 Delivered (Ozaroo eBay Outlet)

120

I bought this not long ago, and am impressed with the quality. This is an overseas model, and has a UK Shaver Plug, but is compatible with my old charger base. It comes with one cross-action head. It has a NiMH battery (which the non-Pro models do not have)
Not sure what the equivalent Australian model is, but the Pro 700 sold by Topbuy is $100, and looks exactly the same. This is the only Oral-B "Pro" I can find below AU$50.

It comes with a plastic travel container for the toothbrush and head.

  • Just curious, what is the difference between these ones and the cheaper oral-b toothbrushes?

    • +1

Not sure about all the differences, but personally I wanted one with a better battery. The cheap ones have NiCD batteries (the very old type rechargeables), and you only get "full speed" for a few brushes, and the rest of the time you end up brushing at a lower speed, not really cleaning your teeth. I find that this model is way more powerful, and does the job much better.

      • Cool. Ye, I have battery problems with mine :( I basically always keep it on charge these days.

OralB tell you that you must keep it on the charger when not in use, you should only discharge it fully once every six months. Read the manual that came with your toothbrush!

        • @Maverick-au: that is a waste of energy and would shorten the life of any battery, especially NiCd

Utter rubbish, the manufacturer of the product has said to keep it fully charged and discharge twice a year for maximum life so what qualifies you to say it will shorten the life and waste energy. What is the energy used to manufacture a new toothbrush when yours fails early because you can't be bothered following the manufacturers advice?

The energy used by an electric toothbrush is negligible.

What is the cost of a dental visit from having your toothbrush performing poorly? Trying to save a few cents a year on recharging a toothbrush is the most absurd thing I've heard.

@Maverick-au: how much do you know about the charge and discharge behavior of the various battery types? Heard of memory effect? Twice a year is not enough. Did you do the maths on the energy usage? It's about 17kW a year. That's $5 worth.
And which manufacturers nowadays try to achieve long lifespans on their products?

Clearly a lot more than you do, you have no idea how the toothbrush charges but still claim that it's poor despite the average lifespan of the OralB electric toothbrushes being quite a few years.

Twice a year is not enough.

The manufacturer seems to think that it is

Even if it was 17kWh per year that is nothing compared to the purchase price nor the cost of visiting a dentist but OraclB the manufacturer of the toothbrush say it uses 2.8kWh per year. So why do we believe?

Keep it on the charger in between brushing like the manufacturer recommends and you won't have any problems.

        cheaper oral-b toothbrushes

Cheaper ones are manual whereas this one is electronic :)

I have had the cheaper Oral B Vitality and upgraded to the Oral B PRO CARE 700 (it looks very similar to this post)

        My review:
The Pro is definitely stronger and a full charge initially lasted approx a week.
I noticed it now last approx 5 days.

If you have spare eneloops lying around, replace the battery. There are also tutorials online

  • Shavershop also has a sale at the moment - http://www.shavershop.com.au/online-store/oral-care/electric…

  • I'm looking for some cheap replacement heads too. Anyone got any recommendations?

This supplier is selling them otherwise search ozbargain as deals are posted every week. In general don't buy from eBay and don't buy ones that too cheap or you will get counterfeits which are not good for your teeth.

      • thanks mate

  • bought one, thx!

  • The only point to note is that this comes with a UK shaver plug on it not a European plug. Maybe the OP could update to indicate this as I was after a OralB base with a European plug on it, I've asked the seller if they have one with a European plug they could send instead.

The UK shaver plug will work in most hotels in Europe with a shaver socket if you're thinking of taking it when travelling but it's easier to get one with a Euro plug or use an adapter. It's not easy to adapt from the UK shaver plug to a European plug.

You can buy these for a few dollars more from Amazon UK once this offer ends (around 25 pounds but take off the VAT and add on shipping) but can't get them delivered from Amazon DE if you're after a European plug.

    • Noted and changed.
It did look a bit fat for a European plug…

  • the spec seems like the pro 500 in AU.
Great price while the 500 is not on special.
But you dont get the 2 years + credit card 1 year ( 3 years total ) warranty.
