D-Link Mybaby Wi-Fi Cloud Camera $80 at Dick Smith

80

Cheapest price I've seen on these for ages.
This was in the Northland store (Preston, Vic), but it's probably part of their nationwide share-price-is-too-low-and-possibly-going-bankrupt sale.

I believe there is a new model out or coming soon, but I don't think this is clearance stock.

    Do not buy this model.

I have two at home and since the last IOS update they have killed the app. It freezes constantly (check out app store reviews) so is now completely unsuitable to be used as a baby monitor.

    TLDR: it's a piece of sh*t.

    • Use the 'mydlink lite' ios app, and don't ever upgrade the camera firmware.
      It works fine then.

    • I agree, the recent update is very unstable, it keep broastcasting the SSID as well.

    • The firmware/app combo is a big deal with this camera.
Get the right combo and you'll be sweet.
Have had mine running strong for over a year now with no issues.
Tried the latest firmware, but found it very lacking, so downgraded it back.
      Still hasn't skipped a beat.

Yep, the app is stuffed. We have both android and iOS… although I think the camera in itself isn't so bad, they've just royally screwed it by killing the app - it's no good if you can't view it! If they happen to fix the app it may come good, but not holding my breath… I've had it over 6 months and still waiting!

I'd skip this and find another brand.

    • The app is no longer available for downloads. The camera is great! Love it..

      • How do you monitor the camera if you don't use their app?

        • Never mind, saw below you can use one of their other apps…

        • @bagger: You can also just view the still image in a web browser.

    • The mybaby app is terrible.
The mydlink lite app is quite usable.

If you can avoid WI Fi exposure especially for babies you are doing big favor for them.
The so called research favors the industry .some EU countries and Canadian states are acting to stop this exposure.
Please don`t jump on me for being sceptic

WiFi radiation is non-ionizing radiation - at the WORST at MASSIVE concentrations it makes things warm. Your microwave "leaks" the same radiation as WiFi but 100,000 times more. Notice sometimes the baby monitor drops when the microwave turns on?

The same people that claim WiFi is dangerous to kids will let their kids out in the sun for 30+ minutes without sunscreen… go figure.

But the sun is natural, how can anything natural like arsenic or nicotine be bad for you?

      • Sorry wrong one

  • better patch it topo, as it's got major security flaws.

Sadly, this isn't a set and forget camera straight out of the box.
For those tech savvy enough, it is a great gadget for this price.
