Sell Nerf Guns or Hold onto Them Because They Will Go up in Value?

Hi everyone, i have a bunch of old nerf guns sitting around at home and was wondering if i should hold onto them or sell now. I have seen some guns like the vulcan going for up to $100 on ebay and was wondering if i should sell them or wait a few years as the might become more collectible.
Thanks.

Is it costing you anything to store them? Is it a hassle?
If they are to rise in price, it will happen to the largest extent about the time the generation who originally played with them has kids of the corresponding age. So when the toys are approx 25 - 30 years old. This is because the new nerf guns then will be either:
    - banned
    - lame
    - poor quality

And parents will reminisce about the nerf guns they had as kids and buy them on ebay.
In the meantime, some particular models that had a limited run or had other features (easily modded maybe) will be worth more, but not so much normal, widely available, cheaper models.

    • Thanks for the reply. They are a hassle taking up space which is why i wanted to sell them, but looking on ebay at some of the guns i have that were discontinued they are worth a decent amount. So do you think it is worth waiting 25-30 years or sell them sooner.

I think you could probably identify the "collectible" ones. Not much point keeping the ones that sell for $10 new. Maybe a compromise is to cut out the low end stuff and hold on to the fancy ones for a few more years and see what happens.

  • The more powerful Nerf Rival blasters are not allowed in Australia. So some nerf fans could be willing to pay more to get their hands on one…

But I don't see Nerf guns rising in value unless you've got a certain batch of limited edition ones or those which have been modified.

    • Thanks, from looking online some of the models i own have been discontinued for years so I am unsure whether it is worth waiting.

      • considering that woolworths last year had some marked down from $25 to $5… I would not think these are very collectible.

    • nerf rival apollo… ordered from amazon… arrived fine…

  • In my opinion , They are only certainly worth investing in if they new and boxed

Long strikes ($200 - $300) went sky rocketing through the roof same as longshots.

Vulcans , Stampedes, rayvens , rapidstrikes , barricades and Any Vortex gear was only in aus for about a year or so Pyragons ,Nitrons is bound to be collectable and heading the same way.

Some Super soakers like bottle blitz and Hydrocannons.
