My PSN Account Got Hacked. Input Please

Hi guys, last night i received an email stating that i purchased a game worth $112.90 which i didnt. Can anyone guess what that game is?? Its Star wars battlefront =="

Straight away i knew i got hacked by someone. >.<

Also the other thing is that this person deactivated my primary console and activated on his/her console. So i wasnt able to deactivate through the website and activate mine again.

I rang up Sony customer centre and told them the whole story. As for the money they said they'll escalate it and will get back to me in 7-10 working days.
The person did manage to deactivate the hackers console and i was able to activate it again on my primary console.

So my question would be has anyone encountered or know of these kind of issues/stories? What are the odd of sony refunding me the money $112.90?

TL:DR Got hacked, lost $112.90, rang sony and was told will get back to me in 7-10 working days. Will i get back the money??

Thanks

EDIT: Rep said that the person bought the game through the website not using their console.

  • Yes! you will because you would've supplied Sony with your serial number and it won't match against the purchases made on someone else's console.

    • Ahhh… i actually asked them how would they be able to track and apparently they said the person bought it through the website >.<

To ensure you have proper tracking, have you opened a ticket with the support? Have you got an email confirming what they told oyu over the phone?
That would be the first thing I would be looking at: getting information in writing.
Then, because you have been hacked, I will say that your $120 is the least of your problem. If the guy hacked your account, he must have had access to your personal details, maybe you should review all your passwords/accounts that have the same email address of your PSN account.
I would change all password, like gmail, facebook, etc etc just in case and also review the "Secret Question Answer" as my bet is that is how he "hacked" you.
I have "hacked" a couple of friends using their secret question answer to show them that is not safe to reply "What is your pet name" by "Garfield" or "where do you live" by "New York" if that is written on their Facebook.

    Anyway, hope that helps!

    • I didnt get an email confirmation but the person gave me a ticket number which i wrote down…
I will be giving them a call next week to follow up on this matter…
I changed my password for my PSN and removed my debit card from it..
Will have to take your advise and change all related emails like u said…

Do you know since i've deactivated my account on his console, what access does he have now??

      Thanks

      • All of your credentials with the same email and/or password are super compromised. You need to change those passwords pronto!
Can you call your bank to void the transaction?

I wouldnt call the bank to void the transaction. Playstation have been known to close down accounts for doing that even when hacked.

          @Circly:

I agree, Sony is extremely unreasonable!

        • I had some money in my wallet so it didnt go through my card fortunately.
I've been changing my passwords so much that i get confused now on what is what… >.<
I read online that people who try to void the transaction with the bank gets their account banned by sony due to insufficient funds apparently in the wallet(?)

        • @repair-pro: After reading peoples forums/threads it seems the odds of getting it back is really slim >.<
Fingers cross i can get it back.

  • Happened to me last night, Sony's security is absolutely s***

$500 in games before I noticed and kicked them out, did you ever get a refund from Sony?
    What did your bank do?

How is it Sony's fault that you use the same password on multiple websites? Use a password manager, let it suggest unique passwords on all sites and you're infinitely safer. Now go and change your passwords on the other sites you use this password combo on instead of denying it.

      • The thing is i got no notification of a new device logging in, let alone deactivating my own ps, activating their ps and then making purchases without requiring the CVC or any other additional security.

The only notification I got was a bunch of receipts for purchases I did not make.

Even shopback gives a notification if I try login from a different browser, it's pathetic sony doesn't have anything like that.

As for the passwords, good advice.
I had used different passwords but now I'll probably generate more secure ones.

        • Yeah I never save my payment details into anything for that reason.

  • How did you get hacked?

Did you get hacked because you bought games from the PS store from your PC and not your console?

I'd like to know how, so I can be safe as well. Cheers
