thank you adamren. Used to like Rayban and now there is so many copies.
Bought expensive glasses and usually end up sitting on it within few months and cracked.
Had Oakley but found the wrap around/ curved glasses sometimes make me dizzy.
Like the $250 Adidas sports glasses but made of fantastic plastic, so do not last in my hand.
You are right - some designers are well overpriced - the point is I have trouble to tell a pair of paddy's (flea market) from a designer pair. Designer = a pair of glasses with logo Imo.
I've had Oakley polarised sunnies a few times and they always gave me eye strain and I felt like a head ache was coming at the end of the day.
So now I stick to Maui Jim or Serengeti and everything is great, I can wear them all day with no concerns.
I think above about $400 you are paying for fashion not optics.
Depends on use and tastes. And face shape.
Do you like certain colours? The RayBan or Oakley mirror finish is a nice way to personalise.
For the budget of $700 a pair is pretty high and if you're willing to look there are lots more brands out there than just the fashion houses (DG, Gucci, Prada etc which are way overpriced in my mind) but more niche genre like fishing and skiing etc. Maui Jims and Persol.
Perhaps a better option is to get two pairs of sunnies that are good for purpose like sports outdoors (wrap around, lighter, sweat grips) or casual and driving types. Or interchangable lenses maybe?
If you're sensitive to glare get darker tints and polarised.
How would you treat them, if you're clumsy and prone to breaking things then get thicker and more durable ones.
Maybe you go in and outdoors often and might prefer photochromatic.
If you're pedantic about origin like me there are US Made ones called Randolph Engineering. I personally use RayBan Aviators (mainly because my SO really want me in them, she says they're hot ;-p) and Oakley Prism Road (for cycling, they also do golf ones). Bolle is another good one for riding that isn't under the huge Italian Luxottica rip off umbrella. I think they're French, not sure. Oakleys are US made too.
