Travel Insurance - Any deals around for single OR multi trip

I'm interested in hearing about policies that cover travel on points where the trip cost does not include ticket price, just taxes etc.

Any experiences or discount codes around?

Commbank had some free travel insurance if you have a credit card with them.
Don't need to purchase the holiday on that credit card for it to be covered either.

Have made a claim on this policy for my recent Bali delay, when it's processed I will make a post here, so others can see how effective the policy is.

      • Cheers mate!

        • Just got a message, that they received the claim and will process it in 10 business days

        • @RockyRaccoon: Good Luck!

        • Update. They rang and said claim will be processed on monday as they are overloaded with claims. But that doesnt tell me at this stage if the claim or parts will be accepted. Update more later

  • Look into the Aust Post one.

    Hi,
http://www.insureandgo.com.au/ are offering 20% off with the use of the code groupon20

  • Thanks, Looked at Aust Post and yes, it does cover rewards bookings, but the PDS description is incomprehensible - they don't believe in plain English.

I'll check out INsureandgo too. Under product reviews, there are a lot of negs … http://www.productreview.com.au/p/insure-and-go.html. It is underwritten by … Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Company Limited - WHO??

    • I usually use INsureandgo or http://www.columbusdirect.com.au/

Never had any issues with either.

Lots of the neg reports seem to be about missed connections, delays, and Volcanic Ash.

      • Reading the posts and replies, this insurance is very imited and wont cover you for natural disasters, other than medical expenses, so the Bali volcano, costs like accommodtion, food and extra travel expenses are not covered. This has been confirmed by the insure and go Rep.

So it would appear the only real benefit that is being offered relates to medical expenses.

  • Rocky, did you get your claim through? Which insurance company was it as I'm not sure from the posts which you refer to?

Any one had any experience/feedback yet with the Aussie Post one?

    • Not yet, they require a letter from Jetstar confirming that I was delayed. Jetstar are yet to provide that to me.

Its Allianz, who provide the insurance to Commonwealth bank for their credit card holders. Will update when I get info to Allianz and they make their decison.

  • I looked at Canstar and Aussie Post is 3 star and TID is 5 star. One major difference, apart from the extra $120 premium is that TID covers terrorism. They both cover reward point bookings.

Canstar don't give any indication on what they base their ratings on unfortunately, just vague references.
