Info/Opinon with Buying a Laptop from Amazon/Newegg.

I had been browsing for a decent gaming laptop for $2,000 but couldn't find anything to my liking within Australia until I found some in Amazon/Newegg. They come with better specs and a much cheaper price.

I have mainly purchased online for clothings and shoes but never expensive electronic items. I know it's a nightmare when they become faulty and that's the risk I am willing to take this time. Is there anything else I need to be mindful of?

  • Ususally laptops come with an international warranty so should not be a problem. Have not bought from Newegg but Amazon are great for customer service as you may know. If the unit is DoA they will pay for shipping to send it back (or let you keep it) and send another with minimal fuss.

    • Thanks for the reply. The Brand is Asus. If the laptop becomes faulty am I able to send to Asus Aust. for repair or it must go back to the Amazon seller?

I could save between $400 - $600 for a $2,000 laptop depending on if there is a 15% laptop discount usually available at JB. I think it's a risk well worth taking.

  • Where do you find decent laptops on NewEgg. The ones I looked at - the ones with Australian pricing - are no better than local ones, mostly worse.

    • The one I found on Newegg is not longer available when I checked. It showed up on the search so I wrongly assumed that it was available.

  • I ended up buying a new laptop at JB on Wicked Wednesday for the 15% discount and another 5% off. It worked out to be the same price as getting it from Amazon due to other costs.

Couldn't be bothered to get my friend to buy it for me and then post it over. Not worth the hassle on someone else.
