Hi all,
Just wanted people's view point of running 5w-30 within summer. As we know, Australia can get up to 40 degrees with averages of above 30 on most days.

Gday , I've towed 2ton caravan throughout north qld, Darwin , The Kimberly , red centre & even NSW ski fields. I use penrite 5w-40 for half trip & magnatec 15w-40 , no dramas with either but I stick with the penrite stuff now.
Repeat after me: regardless of ambient temperature, my engine's operating temperature remains constant. Use the weight that your car's manufacturer recommends.
Your engine temps don't change enough to warrant a different oil grade in AUS. Maybe only if you loved in Victorian High a country winter, even then I wouldn't bother.
