  • Is this higher or lower than the hd-65 or whats the difference ?

    http://www.justprojectors.com.au/optoma.htm

  • The HD-20 is a higher model. The HD65 is a data projetor used for business presentations or standard HD viewing. It has a native resolution of WXGA 1280x720.

The HD-20 has a native resolution of 1920x1080 which is FullHD.

  • Is this a big brand in projectors? Also i heard the bulbs are VERY expensive to replace, how much does one cost? (are there cheapo generic ones? or we have to buy expensive manufacturer ones?)
    Thanks

    • Optoma are a very good brand, I am pretty sure they are the brand our local cinemas use for the pre-movie advertisements (so that can give you an idea of the quality they are capable of).

  • Optoma after infocus is the biggest projector manufacturer in the world. Its just in Australia that they are not that well knows. Some of their projectors with dark chip 3's inside sell for over $10,000 and are considered some of the best in the world.
The picture on the HD-20 is absolutely fantastic and in a proper theatre room will rival the best plasma TV's for quality but on a screen size 100 inches or more.
We have a showroom in sydney for anyone interested in a demo of the projector. Just call the number on the website to arrange a time.

As for bulbs you can get generic ones for the HD-20 but i never recommend them since they are never made like the original in my experience.

    • How does it compare against the At4000E, and Epsom tw3500 of this world ? I'm looking to upgrade an old infocus x1 at some point. Are there lots of price variation in bulb price and lifespan between manufacturers ?

  • The Panasonic being a more expensive projector would come out on top. The Epson in my eyes is comparable to the HD-20 if not a little better but again at a more expensive price. However Epson projectors seem to have generally cheaper prices for original bulbs if that is your concern.

We do have the Panasonic PT-AE4000 on sale at the moment with only 3 units left.Have a look below:

  • How much are replacement bulbs and do you stock them?

  • Also, do you offer extended warranties?

  • LOL you can get this exact projector from Amazon.com for $1150 AUD including postage using shipito.

Projectors are severely overpriced in Australia.

  • you forget about import GST, the chance of the item getting damaged in transit and the most important warranty. The HD-20 comes with 3 years Australian warranty when purchased in Australia and you wont get that from amazon.

Some facts for you. Projectors are always shipped in by ship in big metal containers by the manufacturers. Why is that you ask? because the image chip (LCD or DLP) get damaged by atmospheric radiation when on a plane. So good luck trying to get amazon to do that for you.
Also have you ever tried to repair an out of warranty projector? it costs $$$$. In most cases its not worth repairing due to the costs involved. You make your own mind…

Vlad we do offer extended warranty on top of the 3 years just call the number on the website.

      1. Why do the product specs say: Warranty One Year Limited Parts and Labor, 90 Days on Lamp
      2. I've never heard of this atmospheric radiation claim, people get mailed projectors by air post all the time without metallic containers. Have you got any evidence of this? I can't find anything at all on Google.
      3. Why pay for repairs when the money you saved will almost get you a brand new replacement one with a brand new lamp. I bought my last projector in Australia, and the repair cost after 1 1/2 years was MORE than buying a replcement one.
    • The projector is $979 from the US which means no import GST. Shipito also offers a warranty if it is damaged in the post. Either way, you can get TWO of these for the same price here so I think warranty wouldn't be an issue.

  • At the end of the day anything can be bought overseas cheaper than you can buy it here (except maybe vegemite). But comparing apples with apples I still think this is an ok deal when compared with Australian examples.

When you look at all the deals for other electronics posted up here why does this deal got all the flack??

I agree, but the reasons digital_online gave were dishonest/incorrect and to me that shows their company can't be trusted.
