  • how does a company just go in to liquidation?

There are literally thousands of ways. Here's some information listed about Yatango. Looks like administrators were appointed on 1 October 2015.

all further communications about your service will come from Yomojo

They may contact you further giving you the opportunity to continue with Yomojo. They may just continue your service via them immediately. Depends on what terms and conditions you agreed to initially with Yatango.

Continuation of the discussion from almost 2 months ago when they got into administration.

Bad management? Also prepaid mobile plan is quite a low margin competitive market that's very price sensitive (just ask any OzBargainer!) So "not any cheaper" might just mean not many customer.

I am interested in who this Yomojo Pty Ltd is. According to ASIC search they have just been incorporated 2 weeks ago.

i thought if a company was having bad finical problems. they are not meant to continue to take peoples money?

i might jump on the telstra deal some one posted the other day!

They appoint an administrator, an independent professional who assesses whether the business is better off selling all its assets and closing down (liquidating) or trying to trade it's way out of trouble (administration). Either way, creditors get dudded, but the administrator is meant to choose the course that results in the higest pay back of debts.

Been porting in and out of telcos for the past 6 months and spending about $5 a month on prepaid mobile phone plans(between supermarket deals and sims from kmart). Cheaper than any prepaid provider!

A bit more work once a month, but not looking back after TPG forced me out and stiffed me with the $11 port out fee. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/191193

My favourite is still the Telstra prepaid sims. If you don't finish using your credit for the month, you can still buy apps from Google Play store, bonus!

    • I just signed up to the Telstra offer.
Was shocked to discover Telstra has a $8 port out fee now. Just FYI.

      • ..possibly a hint to hitch your ride to Pre paid and not postpaid/repayments.

        • LOl.. nah can't get the data for the money on PP

this reminds me of the One.Tel days… anyone remember that? telco's going bust before another one 'pops' up out of nowhere! LOL

    Yatango got brought out?

    To where?

    • To Yomojo. Sounds like and looks like the same thing to be honest.

  • Hey everyone,

I worked for a company owned by Yatango up until the beginning of this month, before they let everyone in the company go, and advised that they would not be paid wages owed to them.

Yatango Shopping / MobiCity - There is no money to fulfil orders or to refund customers, and customers have been told nothing, which is criminal in my opinion. If you are in this situation, your only option is to raise a PayPal claim / attempt to reverse the transaction with your bank.

Yatango Mobile / Yomojo - It is my understanding that a former Yatango investor purchased the mobile customer base and got the assets to the Yatango Mobile website, and has started a new company / website called Yomojo, which looks to have been a bit of a rush job.

sorry to hear mate. they sound corrupt! they are not the first company to do this! i think the government can help cover your pay that you are owed? didn't they set some thing after ansett collapsed?

      • Thanks, and a lot of their behaviour lately has been questionable. There is something called the Fair Entitlement Guarantee, though staff are unfortunately not eligible until the company is put into administration / declared insolvent. As this will cost 10k - 20k to do, Yatango is in no rush. Currently only Yatango Holdings and Yatango Mobile are in administration, none of the other associated companies.

This isn't the first time Andy Taylor (founder of Yatango) has not paid wages owing to his staff and gone into liquidation.

Did a similar thing in NZ a couple of years back:

    Hope the Media dig further..

    • so i guess you are on a mission? lol just when you think the government might be doing its job right! hopefully some one will stop this madness!

  • So the new mobile phone replacement I was waiting for won't arrive any time soon then? (it's been 4 months already), and I shouldn't expect anything of my $500 back? No avenues? Was originally purchased through Mobicity.

  • i had $20 credit on their site shit
