Not a bad starter price for the Mega Yarn Yoshi amiibo - with a RRP $59.95
In comparison, the regular-sized Yarn Yoshi amiibo sells for $24 (but somehow out of stock in many places). Catalogue starts on 26/11, amiibo released on 28/11.

Bought Pink and Blue Yarn Yoshi amiibos today @ Brookside Big W at $19 each, down from $24 each. Seemed like they had around 4-5 of each colour, including green.
They're $15 at Target this week.

I have a new 3DS and a Wii U but never got any Amiibos but might just pick Yoshi up at that price.
I doubt that they would be lowered to that price, unless you have proof otherwise. Advertised amiibos for sale on Target include select Disney Infinity 3.0 for $14 and Animal Crossing (and Falco) for $15

And I'll say it, King Dedede. Something about that clown irritates me.
Those are all characters for smash brothers which they are designed for, why would they skip certain characters just cause people like you don't like them?
Simply just like selecting the characters in a game, don't buy them if you don't like it, its that simple.

Anything where you are expected to accumulate this much crap in your home is no good. I would be talking my children out of them if I had any (maybe I never will, being Scrooge and all…)

It is an awesome game, but $48 for an amiibo seems a bit steep.

Yes it does, though fairly minor. It enables the player to play as two Yoshi's simultaneously (both controlled by the one controller). It makes gameplay a little easier, but it's not detrimental to use it.
Also, tapping other amiibo figures to it gives Yoshi a new costume (e.g tapping Mario gives a Mario-themed look).
That's the same effect as the existing Yoshi Amiibos I believe though, so probably not worth the outlay if you don't want the larger Amiibo.
Just picked one up at Big W.
