Because it takes a week at least to get the purchased product and if we dont like it. If we don't like it, returns is not hassle free.
The sales is a part of Black Friday sales and that's more of USA event.
Why Amazon is not expanding in Australia like it is in America and other places, probably because Australia is a fairly small market (population wise) with a fair bit of distance from other major markets? I don't know, they might expand like what they are in US later in future (I remember someone saying that Amazon tend to start kindle and book related stuff before making a full fledged Amazon store in that country, but since it was someone speculating, I don't know how valid it is).
Restricted access to Amazon apps, for years, was demonstration enough that Australia has always been low on Amazon's list of priorities.
For retailers in Australia, including online, shit is certainly going to 'get' another level of real, at some point
Oh, and it looks like even more to worry about for Coles and Woolies -
When Lidl comes to Australia, they may also do what Aldi hasn't yet done here, online. Some exciting and new stuff-buying times, but just not here, yet.
I personally have my doubts. Australia, I personally think, is not a business friendly place simply because of its location, population density and minimum wage. Basically, it's far from many large markets and therefore, sales in Australia probably is the main source of sales. The cost associated with individual sales, transportation of the goods to houses and workers, are high because of how high minimum wage is in Australia and how scattered the population is in general (outside the big cities); there is a limit to reduction in cost due to volume of sales. Not to mention, Australia is a tiny market (population wise) for its size. So all that kinda makes me doubt those kind of things happening anytime soon.
The articles you've mentioned are from 2013 or is referring to other countries and what is happening in other countries, I personally don't think the environment Australia is in would allow that kind of business model in near future. I personally wish full fledged Amazon store would come into Australia too though.
No argument. If at all, it'll be long-term.

I didn't even realise that there was an official Australian Amazon site! I just use either .com or .co.uk
Amazon is a warehouse style that trades on massive scale and volume. It doesn't have that capability or infrastructure in Australia - and that's why they sell ebook and apps on their Australian store.
probably has something to do with tax
What does it matter? Purchase from the US site
