Oh no, where can I get a chest freezer? With all the ducks I have no room for ice cream :-(

    Nice deal though.

      Any freezers on special?

Was a big fan of Connoisseur Ice Cream but the quality has dropped considerably as of a couple of months ago (the ice creme is like froth). Still probably a reasonable deal but be warned if you haven't had it in a while.

    • Connoisseur Cookies and Cream is one of my favourites but I only buy it on sale. I did a taste test against Coles brand Cookies and Cream. At half of Connoisseur's regular price Coles held up very well, however I think it was even more airy. Next time I'll weigh the tubs! I should bring Aldi's version into the mix as well.

      • Love that cookies and cream stuff. My waistline however..

      • Aldi's version is not that bad! When we run out of Connoisseur tubs we buy aldi's cookies n cream! It's really nice as well! Especially for that price everyday:) but no doubt Connoisseur is the best of all the tubs:)
I think Baskin Robbins version is the winner, but you can't get 1lt for that price of a scoop:)

      • you have to try the Honey Macadamia, better that cookies and cream i think, but again everyone have their own preference.

    • That's disappointing, I haven't had it since last summer - Cookies n Cream was always my go-to :(

Don't worry, it hasn't changed in my opinion. I've been buying regularly for years.

        • Yep haven't noticed a difference either. Vanilla is still my favourite though, it leaves Sara Lee in the dust as far as I'm concerned.

    • Connoisseur is one of the only ice creams left that hasn't been altered or turned into air-whipped garbage.

    Children! Clear the freezerrrrrrrr

  • This would have been better in another month or so. I'm just getting over the massive binge week 4-5 weeks ago when Woolies had it half price… I'll sit this one out.

    • My biggest binge was about five months ago where I ate at least 10 litres in a week. I'm still regretting it to this day. So much sugar. This brand is about 28% sugar which is probably the highest out of all the ice creams at Colesworths. You could try Harry's ice creams or Aurora gelato if you want something less sugary. There are non-dairy alternatives that have less sugar as well, but I haven't yet found one with the creamy texture that sugar gives.

  • On my last tub from last time sale. Can only seem to find my fave at Coles so ill have to buy up big!

These things are so thick and hard that my spoon bends when trying to scoop it out. It jabs into my hand, and it hurts. I prefer ice cream creamy rather than dense.

    • Same problem I had with this brand.

      • Try using an ice cream scoop instead. I just noticed this new design: http://midnightscoop.com

You are probably trying to scoop out too much in one go anyway. Try scraping small bits around the edges first.

        • I don't have one of those, though they will probably help.

Doesn't matter where you scoop it, it's hard and dense. It tastes almsot solid.

    • the easier it is to scoop, the more air it has. E.g. Streets - a kid could scoop that rubbish.

      • True. You're probably getting more weight per dollar with the Connoiseur, but I like being able to scoop it out without hurting my hand or bending my spoon. And I don't feel like buying a scooper just for this brand of ice cream.

        • Good quality ice cream must be left out of the deep freeze for about 5-10 mins prior to scooping.

  • Does Coles rain check only last for 1 week now?
Last time i got the rain check ticket they told me come back in 1 week or this will expire. It used to be valid for 1 year just like Woolworths ones.

    • Should say on the raincheck itself how many days it's valid for. I think it's 30.
