Strangely this is not advertised by either kaligo or amex.

When you go to pay for the hotel with an Amex issued card that earns MR points (card that have direct earn to QF or VA wont work) the kaligo website will pop up a message advising you will earn amex MR points instead of the usual airline miles.

Sometimes a particular hotel will be more expensive than the extra points justify, but I've made 3 bookings now where the cost has been the same, lower, and $20 more.

May not be for all Oz bargainers, but if you're trying to boost ya MR points balance so you turn left upon entering the plane, this might be for you. I've gotten about 10K of bonus points for really no extra $$$$

      I wouldn't say always more expensive. Do your due diligence with Wego.com, Trivago.com.au, and HotelsCombined. Factor in any coupons and make your choice.

      For me 1 booking in Las Vegas was $1000 more via Kaligo, but a booking in Melbourne was only $30 more expensive via Kaligo (factoring in using a coupon via Hotels.com) for the 5000 MR points which was a worth while deal for me.

      A booking for a Hotel in Honolulu was around $30 cheaper with Kaligo than anywhere else. YMMV.
