With twinings having moved their manufactoring base to china (aka the flavourless country) this could be a deal for tea drinkers.

What? You've obviously never drank proper chinese tea (loose leaf), its packed with flavour. And they've moved their packaging to China, not their product which is still sourced from various parts of the world (in luding China).

      • Well, thats the good china, its only brought out for special occassions.
All I can say is twinings have declined in quality in the last couple of years.

China has some of the best tea plantations in the world. It also has a lot of amazing cuisine. I don't think it's fair to think things made in China are inferior considering probably 80% of everything around you is sourced from China in some shape or form. Sure there are cheapy goods but they probably make the phone and computer you use daily.

Well, the issue is stuff in china is made so close their maximum tolerance level. If a hose fitting is rated for 600kpa, it will break at 650kpa. Theres very little wiggle room.
On the other side, its a very efficient use of resources, almost a compliment to the chinese manufactors really.

  • for those in melbourne it's in the west.

Ok I went! Thanks OP for the heads up. Loved it - I rummaged through everything so I was there for about an hour. That's all my xmas gifts done. Prices are as follows: $10 tea pots, $2 teas, $5 larger boxed teas, $10 wholesale bags (100 teabags all individually wrapped) $5 cup and saucers, $1 accessories such as scoops and strainers, $20 for Chill tea cannister gift bag. $2 tin cannisters. Unsure if they will have the same stuff tomorrow but I am guessing it will be the same stock.
If you love tea well worth stocking up. A lot of people bought A LOT, enough they can open their own T2 and I am not even kidding. Tea pots are older style, maybe from a few years ago but all different styles so will have something for everyone's taste. When I was at the cashier she told me the tea pot I bought for $10 was well over $200 in store.

    • shows how massively overpriced their stuff can be

Don't get me wrong, i like some of the teas, but the other incidental stuff like cans, teapots etc.. can be quite the ripoff

      • Yeah makes you wonder if they are taking a hit or still making a profit? I asked how often they have these sales and they said once every 2 years if that.

id say if the 200 dollar teapot is going for 10, its probably close to cost.

  • Forgot to add some teas have short expiry, like Feb 2016, fine if you are buying for yourself but if they are gifts maybe look for ones with longer expiration, the larger $5 ones have long expiration.

  • Was a great sale, people were carrying out boxes of product. Quite a large range of products, stocked up ourselves.
