  • So let me try and understand this…

They are worth $25 but usually sell for $12.95 but are on special for $1.99.

What the title should say is $1.99 Gel Cycling Gloves, Reg Price $12.95. What they are worth in this case is the regular price, even more so if they have never even sold for $25.

    • Agreed - title edited and the $25 value comment placed in the text.

    • actually el guapo, we have sold them for $25. i would like to thank you for your "plethora" of responses to our posts btw.

  • Well, shipping is $9.96 to Sydney metro, so you're getting back to regular price lol

$10 to ship a pair of gloves? I don't think so

How about a code for reasonable shipping?

    • these gloves will be $12.95 after wednesday ($24.95 in the shop), if $1.99 + shipping is too dear for you, just know that this price for these gloves is pretty good, as i've seen gloves like these costing like $35 in other bike shops.

if you're after something cheap, just go to the -*—- stores, where they sell them much cheaper, although they may fall apart on you.

MOD: inappropiate language. ("cheap/nasty" may be more appropiate)

      • got nike full padded leather gloves for $10 on sale at rebelsports few month back. pretty sure it dont cost $10 for shipping unless you using the express next day post-satchels from AUSPOST lol.

        • +1

The 3kg express post satchels cost $8 to anywhere in Australia. I'd love to see what sort of shipping this mob are using.

@Cell Bikes, his gripe is not with the price of your product.. so much as the seemingly inflated shipping price that you're charging.

          • @pais: Precisely.

I've always disliked eBay sellers selling stuff for $2 and charging crazy shipping. In the case of eBay, it's usually to dodge their fees, in this case, it's just a way of making a deal look more appealing that it really is.

A 500g regular Auspost satchel is $5.13 at bulk rates and I'm sure a pair of gloves wouldn't weigh more than 500g. Deal is more like $7 for gloves, $5 shipping.

            • +1

@RandomNinja: It doesn't bother me on eBay, so long as the postage is clear up front, as I know how bad the fees are.
You can see the postage on the search page. Some sellers hide high postage in the fine print. Cell appears to be in that camp.

            • @RandomNinja: To add to this, it's $4.50 for an express post 500g satchel. Obviously less at bulk rates, although I do like to be generous and give people the benefit of the doubt.

I won't neg one way or the other until the rep can confirm how these are sent.

        • It costs $1.10 to post a thick envelope.
Maybe 1.65 if it is heavy.

      • Cell Bikes - You may want to watch your comments - antagonising people here with cheap comments is not they way to promote your business. It reflects only back on you, There is an edit button you may wish to use.

And is not clear that at $12.95 there is shipping included. If that is the case there is no bargain being offered, other than your normal cheap price.

        • ozpete,

we will be using another person to do ozbargain posts and they will be more mindful of posting anything that may offend anyone.

we are looking into our shipping costs and will take on board all the feedback we have received here and bring visitors the deals they love.

apologies and thank you for your time,
          cellbikes

      • I was going to vote positive because $12 is alright for bike gloves. I didn't because of your low blow (bordering on racist) comment against your competitor. Also where are these gloves made?

        • -1

its not racist if you are asian, i'm asian, the owner is asian, and the guy who sits behind me is asian.

        • -1

Forgive me for the wrong choice of words, however, I didn't mention any specific competitor. I mentioned a "type" of shop that may be famous for selling very….competitively priced goods, however they may be lacking in the quality of construction department and may fall apart on you.

However, I am Asian, so this comment did not seem racist to me. Of course how would you guys know that, unless there was a picture of myself here.

These gloves are made in China, but quality control is very good!

  • It's hard to know what they are like looking at the single picture there. Any more info/pictures? Like padding, material, etc…

    • +1

we'll try and get some more pics up mate

  • Not really a bargain if it costs $11.95 to have it posted when regular price is $12.95
the neg is also for the attitude.

    • you've most certainly taught me a lesson.
thank you for policing ozbargains mate.

      • -1

The bad thing about the internet is that anyone and everyone can find out about your complete and utter disdain for potential customers / the public quite easily. If you keep up with the kind of attitude highlighted in this thread, it definitely will come back to bite you in the ass. But hey, we're just "policing ozbargains", not consumers. Ignorance is bliss.

You're also yet to explain your evidently overpriced shipping. Again, you talk to us as if we are the idiots..

        • -1

How am I talking to you as if you were idiots? I've posted numerous things on here which have been well received.

If you feel like an idiot, that is out of my control and has more to do with yourself and ego.

However, giving a negative due to some perceived "attitude" seems a bit overzealous. Are we rating things based on facts or perception? If you are giving me a zillion negs because of shipping costs, that's fine, and we will change in the future, however if you give me a neg because of some perceived "attitude", I think someone may be sitting in a cubicle, unhappy, and just waiting to find a reason to exercise some "authority".

Regarding the shipping, I have no control over that, however I will let the guys in the ivory towers know "hey, how can I promote anything on OzBargain as a bargain if you guys are going to have these shipping costs". That's pretty fair isn't it? That's all I'm an advocate of, being fair, not lording over this site and enforcing negs because you don't like someone's wording or replies.

          • +1

@CELL Bikes: If you feel that speaking to someone with extreme condescension doesn't infer some sort of superiority of them, then I digress. You're so gung-ho on actually insulting people in your passive aggressive manner, I presume you'd be too daft to understand the concept anyway.

Having a good customer experience is definitely part of the bargain. Will some perhaps forgive this factor of doing business if the bargain is significant? Sure, there's a little tech shop that gets some exposure that's notorious for his poor service skills. Unfortunately, what you've posted isn't as deserving.

And no, I think you'll find many OzBargainers not to be sitting in a cubicle, but again, thanks for the condescension and the laugh.

And look — the entire third paragraph full of condescension. If you flick through the posts that I've replied on here (and actually looked next to my name), you'll notice that I was merely querying the shipping costs. I'd even refrained from voting negative until there was some clarification on your part. Apparently, this was too difficult for you to do in a logical, reasoned manner.. A simple "Unfortunately, that's out of my control, but I'll be sure to bring that up with the owner" would suffice instead of the dummy spit.

I think you have personally driven away potential business today. Good job, and good luck with your bike shop.

            • @pais: pais,

my name is peter, and i've taken over from mark regarding ozbargain.

please note my post to 'ozpete' about 20 minutes prior to your most recent post, where i actually did the things to rectify this situation that you suggested he do.

i'd appreciate if you would read thoroughly before saying we haven't done things to correct a matter, which we have. such as speaking about shipping costs and bringing it up to the owner.

              cheers,
              peter

                @CELL Bikes: Hi Peter,

My post is aimed solely at whichever person was posting prior to you ('Mark', I guess). It's not meant to be a sledge against you or your company, but Mark's inept customer relations shine through in many of his posts in this thread.

I did read, however, that you'd taken over but did not note the time difference. I appreciate that you don't treat the public with the same contempt as your peer.

My suggestion would be (and I mean this is a sincere way) is to review your shipping costs and procedures. Many OzBargainers deal with online companies frequently, or own one themselves, so inflated shipping costs tend to stick out like a sore thumb. I'm 100% certain this deal would've received far more exposure (I'd venture as far to say that it would hit the front page), had shipping been within reason. As you've stated, this is being addressed and it's good that you're taking feedback onboard.

  • Neg - partly for the comments made, partly for the excessive and clearly inflated shipping costs.

  • So.. for about the fifth comment re: shipping, how do you actually ship these products?

  • I was going to buy some, but then saw the postage price!

    A big -neg from me

$10 shipping is too much, and I would have had to sign up to find that out (if it weren't for this great ozbargain community letting me know first). I'd of been fuming if I went through and got hit with that at the end. This is OzBargain, not OzFreeAdvertising. Hopefully next time you can do better with postage, and give the details up-front.
