Again TA has stated in his post from the PC byte deal that $48 is the cheapest you can get for the 128GB Ultra fit USB drive. Well i beg to differ.

Using an Amazon Locker for postage, you can get this for ~$45 AUD Delivered, cheaper than PC Byte's TA deal by $3.

Or even better, use a referral link from the Amazon App Referral Wiki and if you make your purchase via the amazon app, final price will be ~$38 AUD Delivered. Now that's a KICKARSE Deal !!

Disclaimer: My deals do not require an ARSE code

You would also probably get it delivered quicker via Amazon

Enjoy

If the product quality is poor, does it really matter?

    • +1

      Is the product notoriously unreliable?

      • +3

The fit usb dongles supposedly get very hot. Might be good in winter if your hands get cold :)
Based on the heating issues, I'd avoid the fit. I recently saw the Sandisk extreme 64gb for $49 - it's 1/2 the storage but much faster and doesn't overheat.

        • +2

Maybe I got a faulty one, but mine never gets hot, just a bit warm when I actively read/write to it.

      • +1

You get what you pay for, it locks up when you try to transfer very large files, gets about 5gb into a 25gb transfer before being unable to proceed. It's also quite slow, much slower than advertised, it can keep up the advertised speed for perhaps 5 seconds before slowing down to about 5-10MB/s, this means it's ok for something like a few songs, not worth it for a 1080p movie, whole libraries or anything that warrants 128GB of space.

It's good enough as a casual USB for transferring small things, but its performances makes the 128GB capacity irrelevant as you'll never be transferring large files with it, also given how hot it gets I'd be reluctant to use it as a safe backup option.

Perhaps Amazon reviews can't be trusted, but there's almost 4,000 reviews and it's sitting at 4.5 out of 5 stars. How can it be so poor with such high praise? Perhaps only a select few are bad?

      • Agreed there's a few variables.
-using on USB2 apparently doesn't produce as much heat
-feedback may be before people notice the issue
-could be regional variances in supply chain/product manufacture

I'd rather a deal for something that our community (OZb) haven't had problems with is all I'm saying.

  • +2

Not sure why, but it's letting me use my AUD gift card making the final price $33.04 incl. shipping… Now that's a bargain.

    Not even KICKARSE ?

No way. PCByte is usually next day delivery.

      • It's still Australia Post that delivers it when it gets here from Amazon?

        • True, but I have had parcels delivered quicker from Amazon than I have from the east coast to Perth.

          Go figure.

        • No, they get shipped to a warehouse in a Capital City and delivered by a courier. Not sure who is contracted

        • @easternculture: Purchased a few stuff recently from Amazon and they got local Fastway courier to post my stuff within SA though, not too sure about other states.

        • @cloudie9:

Might be fastway then. But again, the contractor may differ in each state

        • @Porthos: Aus Post took 2 whole weeks to deliver my parcel from Hamilton (Brisbane) to Dutton Park(Brisbane). And they have no idea why they got it so wrong when I complain. Hand deliver by walking could be faster.
On the other hand I got a parcel in 3 days from Amazon by UPS but I only paid for standard shipping.

        • +8

          Fastway are terrible.

        • +1

          @Riczter:

yep, they don't service my area and handball to toll, who then make pathetic delivery attempts……

fastway/toll are two from two in that regards.

        • We can't win no matter what!

      • Not sure why this is modded down.
Australia post employee told me that post to/from Adelaide usually gets stock piled over days (if there's not enough), meaning regular post can take 7 working days (as happened to me).
I also had a guaranteed overnight express post that sat in the depot for 36h before it started to move. I still don't have that parcel days later, despite source/destination being in the express zone.

Australia post can be great or lousy.

What is amazon locker? does it provide free shipping in Australia?

    • +1

no, its usually $2 - $3 cheaper than posting to your addy

They ship it to a newsagency or pharmacy close to you.

You will be able to choose a destination in the shipping section of checkout

      • +2

only US $1 difference in posting.

        tried 2 different locker addresses

better than nothing i guess :)

      • +1

oh wow didn't know this existed!

    EC gone ARSE hunting tonight

  • +23

what is with the pot shots at TA? let the deal speak for itself, your attitude stinks…

    • +1

Yeah, this is getting childish. There's fair game and then there's cheap, immature pot-shots.
Adding to that is that I've never seen TA compare himself to you EC.

Though props for sharing a deal that has zero referral credit, that's a rarity.

      • +28

Take it easy guys, a little humor/competition in my posts doesn't harm.

TA knows i have good intentions, ask him if you like

        • -2

fair enough, but if it's in good fun you could make it a little bit more clearer for us randoms…

        • +7

Mate, to some it has came across as anything but.
I'm not stating one way or another, yet out of respect, this is a heads up so if you feel it warrants it, you can self evaluate.
Either way, I'm sure it is not just myself speaking here when I say I appreciate what you BOTH provide this community and hope you continue for a long time coming.
Even better, team up at the same place as The Duo of Deals :)

I think I am a purist in that I prefer bargains that are researched/ stumbled upon, over 'negotiated' bargains.
'Negotiated' bargains are a skill in itself, and full credit to EC/TA.
If my memory is good, wasn't it you who started the 'negotiated bargain' for your milestone post or something? :P
TA took it to the next level, and most likely contributed to him finding the CR job (negotiating with companies).

$3 dollars cheaper, but how do u claim the warranty if the USB doesn't work.

        • Disappointing that people take a shot at you for mentioning ARSE. I never got it the few times I made some coupons containg arse, tightarse etc.

    • Was going to say the same myself. It's not needed. Just post the better deal and move on…

  • +5

    The gloves are off!

    • +1

more like the PANTS are off …

  • What a kick tight arse deal!

  • I like the idea of amazon lockers - but it never seems applicable to items I want. Wonder what the criteria is?

    • I guess the courier contracted in Australia by Amazon would have to have an arrangement with the Newsagent/Pharmacy/Corner Shop etc in your area to hold parcels for collection on their behalf

      • these are the only criteria I see.. no idea why a shieldtv remote wouldn't make it.. might do a chat with them.

    • i think they use toll, the list for my area looks similar to what i've experienced with toll

  • I arranged for toll to deliver to my nearest pharmacy. Instead, they redelivered to my home address. Pissed me off a bit as I wasn't home

    • All my amazon orders in the past get left at post office for me to collect at my leisure.

      • Yes, amazon is usually excellent, but couriers are hit and miss

  • Hijacking this thread to ask if anyone bought this - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/195954 hard drive from amazon last time if it came with the au plug, and is it capable to run from an au wall socket.

I'll ask in forums if no-one knows.

    • Can't say for certain but seagate desktop hard drives i have purchased in the past have come with a plug that has detachable heads and includes AU, US and UK plugs, so I would assume this would be the same.

  • Good stuff EC.

  • +3

I'd probably spend the extra $3 to avoid the hassle to be honest…

  • Thanks EC. I've been looking for a flash drive for a while and finally pulled the trigger on this one.

  • +1

Happy to pay $3 extra just so I can use the coupon code ARSEFIT!

  • +1 because I didn't know about the Amazon App Referral. Bought 64GB from PCB though, still happy with purchase and PC Byte were really quick with the SD cards last week

  • I bought the Ultra Fit and every time I tried to use it, it became so hot that it continually stopped working. So it's effectively useless. On further research there is a lot posted online about problems with these flash drives - some people saying that it even ruined their usb port. Be warned!

  • Again, decent price but BAD product. Please stay away unless you're looking to transfer very small files

    • I have 3 of these and they all work fine for mp3 playback and watching movies.

  • Do these have a hole in them to insert a lanyard so you can carry them on your keyring?

  • Thanks OP, just ordered one! Already have a 64GB and have had no problems.

  • Do you know where I can get a lanyard for a keyring? I tried looking on eBay but all I could find are the ones with a handle strap.

  • Wow! Where do they put the hard disks?!

    • It's SanDisk. That's why it'll fit.

  • Thanks grabbed one:)

  • How do u use referral credit? I can't ever get it to work, any help pls
