  • does dat mean 5% off at OW?

    dats cheap…207 only

  • It does say starts 11 Feb, so…. if OW doesn't change their price by then…. then you can get them to 5% off it.

So just hope OW isn't smart and keep their price the same!

  • You could almost guarantee OW will drop their price.

  • is this the latest model?
Any idea on when the Google Android comes out?

    • +2

      Google Android? What's that?

Do you mean the Google/HTC Nexus One?

      • Yea sorry mate, thats the one, the one they are bringing to compete with iphone

        • Should check out the HTC hero. It runs the Google Android platform and is probably the closest thing to rival the Iphone thus far.

    • I understood that the 8GB model of iPod Touch never really got updated to 3rd generation, hardware wise. When the iPhone 3GS came out, the 32 and 64GB models matched it's hardware specs, but the 8GB model did not.

    • "Any idea on when the Google Android comes out?"
Android is an OS, not a product. And its been out for years. And none of the Android based devices are just mp3 players yet, just phones. Gez so much wrong with your question.

  • Android is a software platform for mobile devices (backed up by Linux Kernel)
Its already available in specific HTC mobile phones
I believe their is one as Google Android for Google Phone (AKA HTC Nexus)

got mine for $217 at big W

  • hmm as far as i know the 8gb was also updated. go to an apple store and ask?

    • No it's definately lesser specs than the 32 and 64 models.

  • Bummer, just bought one the other day for $230

  • If anyone is interested, DSE chadstone has the 2nd gen touch for $199. I believe the difference between the 2nd and 3rd gen is miminal, if not none.

    • -5

WRONG. The difference is the same as between 3G and 3GS, faster processor and double ram. Definitely not minimal.

        • +1

That's my point! The 8gig is still basically the 2nd generation, whereas the 32 and 64gigs are now 3rd gen. Just like how the iPhone 8gig is still 3G where as 16 and 32gig is 3GS.

          • @PainToad: It may be your point, but it's not the way your point came across. Nazrath said that there is little difference between the 2nd and 3rd Gen (he/she is talking 8GB at that point) and you say "WRONG".

      • +1

WRONG. There is almost no difference between the 2nd gen and 3rd gen for the 8GB iPod Touch. Only the higher spec'd iPods got the processor and ram upgrade

        • +1

That's what I meant, see above. It would be stupid buying a 8gig, not only is it no where near enough storage for music and games, the specs are pathetic.

          • @PainToad: For a lot of people it's really all about price point. Everyone in my family has an 8GB touch now, from 10 year old cousins to aunts and uncles. The price of the 8GB is really quite aggressive imo.

            • @[Deactivated]: It indeed is a good price for the tech you get. And for most aunts and uncles, not having quite the latest and greatest CPU, RAM or whatnot does not really matter. They wouldn't know what they are anyway or how to tell the difference. Ignorance is bliss…

              • @jakentta: Most of them wouldn't even understand that the thing has CPU and RAM like a computer. As long as it works beautifully it's all that matters. And the 8GB isn't exactly dog slow or anything.

  • -1

Is all this for real.. The 3rd gen 8GB iPod Touch is 2nd gen tech…

What a bloody rip off that is, if it's true!

    • All in the name of bringing down the price IMHO. You are getting a lot of tech for not much over $200.

      • If I wanted to get into the games available for the Apple products and bought this 8Gb unit. Would I be restricted in what I can play? At the point of purchase, would I be made aware of this limitation?

This is something I wasn't aware of until now, I have been debating purchasing a new iPod, touch in particular but I'm now hesitant.

I do agree though, it's a good price. No doubt there.

        • Yes there are some games that require 3GS/iTouch 3G, and even if some don't "require" it, the graphic intensive ones will run slower.

Basically, if your using it just as an mp3 player, you'd be better of getting a Nano or Classic. If you want to use it for games, buy a higher model!
