Help me identify this thing on my ceiling please

Looks like it popped up over night on one of my ceilings. Isn't moving. And we don't have carpets. Looks like it has tiny hair like thingy on it.

  • Looks like a kind-of mould/bacteria is growing on the ceiling. Is there any dampness around that area as well?

    that has too be the craziest mould on the ceiling.. its got so much shrubbery

  • Also…it's a 5 month old house…and yes the ceiling overlooks the toilet, but toilet door is always closed, has auto exhausts, and no sign of mould in the toilet etc. :|

    It's a nest of spiders.

    • looks like spidermans spideys are in full force there!

        They're daddy long legs…stick your finger in there OP.

      • OMG!
        Definitely looks like that!
        It's a brand new house…I don't want to napalm bomb it :|
        Hmm might vacuum it and throw the vacuum away! :\

          Daddy long legs (and huntsmen and the like) are great housepets. They'll catch mozzies and pests around the house. Ideally you wouldn't harm these poor defenceless living creatures who want nothing but to live in peace and harmony.

          Peace and harmony ehhhh………….

          @Thrift:

          I agree, I have tiny (3-4mm) jumping spiders that hunt baby cockroaches and mozzies. Here is one in action https://www.dropbox.com/s/gceh91z4fuqmovz/MARC5052.jpg?dl=0

          @marcusv: Great shot of the little fella. I'd much rather have a couple of spiders than roaches and mozzies - nature's Mortein :)

          @marcusv:
          I am fine with those little dudes and daddy long legs. But if your size is as big as my hand…. then you belong to NukeTownville of Nope County. :|

          @shadowarrior:

          I guess "too big to fail" can apply to spiders but not the financial kind of spider.

        WTF. My skin is crawling just by watching the video. I guess I learn something new everyday! Urghh…

    It looks like someone supergluing a piece of carpet shaped like a slug to the ceiling.

    Poke it and see if it wriggles!

    (if it does, you may need an exorcist) lol

  • Update:
    I tried vacuuming it…..didn't budge
    I then sprayed insect spray…. no movements
    So I grabbed a stick and poked it….it was sticky as hell…and inside it..looks like zillions of tiny egg like things. :|

    I think the zenomorphs are here…. :|

  • So scary! Remove it before it develops into a million more. Yikes!

    • +1

      Yeah that's the plan. Have sprayed half can of bug spray for now..so if anyone moves ..they get dazed :|

      • Do you have a back up plan? Another can or two? Are you waiting for them to move? lol

        • I usually buy a whole crate of those cans so have I think 2 crates in my garage. Was looking at grabbing bunch of carnivorous plants to take care of the flies couple of days back :|

        • I would like to know how you removed it without disturbing the group.

    I laughed so hard when i saw that title.
    "Can someone help this thing on my ceiling please"
    xD

  • Looks like the previous owner just waxed her leg and just flipped it onto the ceiling.

  • Ew…

    Is your House registered for Movember? - its doing well!
    Just need a bit more grooming and styling :)

  • BE AWARE - BE VERY AWARE !!

    By the way this could be the cheapest shag pile carpet you could ever get - if you could get it from the ceiling onto the floor of course.

    Have you notified the builders as it is a new house still under warranty ? - mind you they would probably want extra money as carpets weren't included !
