When Is The Best Time to Buy a New Gaming Laptop (I.e Which Deal Period)

Hi OzBargainers,

I'm looking to buy a new gaming laptop in/around the next 3 months and I was wondering when the best deal period usually is.

The specs I am after are pretty much a desktop replacement
17.3" screen
i7 6th Gen core
16gb ram
gtx 970/980 or an sli option 960
ssd hard drives, preferably two that are easily accessible so I can do what I want with my space requirements (start with a 512 or 256+512 config)

    not sure about the best time but there's currently an alienware laptop at the dell outlet with similar specs but with a better graphics card, don't know what your budget is. currently it's $3199 link:

    Alienware is the apple of computing so that may be a turn off.

    Looks like around the same configuring on the site is around $3700 odd.

    Might even be able to negotiate down the $3199 to $2750 with dell

    EDIT, just tried to talk to dell about discount, they didn't budge, even asked for student discount and no luck

        also worth checking out MSI's range of gaming laptops.

        I also came across metabox which are custom made laptops. They have desktop CPU's and you can also get a desktop 980 which is called a GXX 980. 4k screen or gsync 1080 and plenty of other options so if you're looking for a true desktop replacement go for one of them

          also, the GXX can also be called the 990m
