ok, have taken off the price match note. happy?

      • The price match note you had initially was fine. See the guidelines on price matches here.

      • +2

You can include it the description :D

      • +4

It's a common practice to mention a deal, then note the potential for price-matching at Officeworks. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/Officeworks+price+m…

      • -3

You can't talk sense with Apple fanbois.

        • +1

That sort of comment is stereotypical of an android fanboy, he's negged because stating pricematches at officeworks is commonplace as stated by the moderator before you posted. You should also know that after how long you've been around on ozbargain

  • From the S6? Why? Aren't they comparatively the same?

    • The S6 has better camera, screen. Th iOS has more polished apps and operating system. I am wanting to try it to see if it suits me better. Both are great phones at the end of the day.

      • I know the mods have privately said people aren't allowed to comment on comments, but… Please read the reviews of devices before commenting. The 6s and 6s plus run circles around most aspects of the S6 and S6 Edge. The best review that goes into great detail on all of those aspects (ie. measured, not opinion) is here

        http://www.anandtech.com/show/9686/the-apple-iphone-6s-and-i…

This is the best comment on cameras,
"Overall, the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are pretty consistently good cameras. In some ways Apple is losing out in raw detail for photos because they went with a smaller sensor size than most, but in general color reproduction, post-processing, and low light photo quality and overall camera UX Apple is leading quite strongly. To some extent, I would say that the Galaxy Note 5 and LG G4 are better in daytime just by virtue of their larger sensors, but in low light I would argue the iPhone 6s Plus is better by virtue of its ability to freeze motion while remaining competitive with the Note 5 and G4 for detail."

In terms of screens, iPhone 6 and 6s (and plus equivalents) are better specced than Samsung 6S, including
        - Black levels
        - Contrast Ratio
        - White Point
        - Gray Scale Accuracy
        - Saturation Accuracy
        - GMB Accuracy
However, Samsung has the edge on
        - Max Brightness

There's a reason that Anandtech gave the iPhone 6s the "Editor's Choice Gold". The last phone to get that was the HTC (Android phone).

        Fair criticisms would be
        - It looks the same as the last model (read: tick/tock development cycles)
        - It's REALLY expensive
        - I don't like iTunes/IOS because they're limiting/cumbersome

I've said it before and will say it again, people should research. Look for sites that actually do proper measures. Anandtech's review will take a good 30 minutes to read. Personally, I was very impressed with the hard drive controller - which benchmarked at almost twice as fast as any other device. That's impressive!!!

        • +6

The 6s and 6s plus run circles around most aspects of the S6 and S6 Edge

They absolutely do not run circles around the competition. The only aspect of the new iPhones that clearly outclasses the competition is the SoC and the NAND performance.

This is the best comment on cameras

Nothing in that comment suggests Apple 'running circles around' the competition. They trade blows. And if you'd follow your own advice and read some reviews, you'd see that DXOMark has the iPhone 6s ranked at #8. So it's not a cut and dried comparison by any means. And before you argue that anandtech is a greater resource than DXOMark, its not, and Apple fans have been using it as a basis for comparison for years when it suited them.

iPhone 6 and 6s (and plus equivalents) are better specced than Samsung 6S, including
          - Black levels
          - Contrast Ratio

If you knew anything about the tech in the displays, you'd know that the iPhone beating the Galaxy S6 in these two areas is literally impossible. And anandtech doesn't even include the Galaxy's in this benchmark for that reason, so you pulled that comparison straight from your ass.

          • White Point

Look again, that chart is not 'higher is better', the S6 Edge is more accurate than both the new iPhones, which were actually worse than the previous models.

          • Saturation Accuracy

I don't know which chart you're looking at. The S6 Edge is clearly above the iPhone 6s.

        • +2

Anandtech?? Lollll that site is biased to apple like Tony Abbott is to coal.

How the heck can the iphone 6s has better blacks, when amoled displays can actually turn off the pixel and ACTUALLY be black.

Same with contrast ratio. I mean seriously LCDs has a bacllight…the acreen is not completely off. So how can it be truly dark?

All your other points are moot because samsung can actually change the picture quality as the user want. You want it to be super saturated? Go ahead. You want it to be a bit muted in saturation? Done. It's all in the settings. Oh it'salso called option. Apple wouldn'tunderstand that.

Camera wise i wouldn'tsay it's outright iphone. There are certain situation where the S6 would win and others when the 6S would. It's very close and you wouldn't br unhappy with either. Oh that's right iphone record its 4k video with MONO sound. Yes in this time and age, it records in MONO. That's a waste…

The biggest downside to iphone is going through itunes. You want to quickly put in songs? You have to sync through itunes. No you have to specifically sync to that specific computer you used (if you try syncing with another computer, nope you can't ). You want to transfer a video? You'll have to wait for itunes to convert THEN sync it to your phone.

TL:DR read A COUPLE of reviews. I like gsmarena. I wouldn't touch the verge, anandtech. Phonearena was quite bad but a bit betterish.

        • There is no way the iPhone has better black levels or contrast than the S6. The S6 has true blacks due to being an LED screen. The iPhone has good contrast for an LCD but no true blacks. And the colours are accurate, yes, but can't be as vivid as the S6.

Also just looking at it, the S6 is waaaay ahead of the iPhone on screen quality. The resolution is higher, the contrast is better, and it just looks fantastic. It's the best screen I've seen. Things really start to look painted on at that point.

I say this as a person that would prefer the iPhone over the Galaxy. But you can't seriously argue the screen is better, it just isn't.

      • Too funny.. this post has become an Apple vs Samsung war.. :)

  • Aus stock?

    • +1

      100%

      • OK. But.. what is 75% Aus stock?

        • +1

Means you have a 1/4 chance of getting a non aus stock

        • or 1/4 of the boxed items arent Aus stock? :)

  • +22

Not questioning that the iphone is a very good phone, but $1,339 for it is a lot of money for phone.

    • +1

Of course its too much for something you change every 2, max 3 years.

      • +3

        more like yearly

    • -5

Well, go back to the early mobiles, the cost more, esp when adjusted for inflation.

      • +3

Well, technology has advanced since then. I'm saying it's a lot when there are comparable phones available for much less.

        • On paper they are comparable, but it comes down to the software, iOS works better with its components than android does

        • +7

          @Apple96:

          In your opinion.

I have had iPhones, I have an iPad air 2, and my current phone is a G4. It works perfectly fine, better than my previous iPhone in fact. This is around three time the price I paid for my G4, I couldn't justify spending the extra in price really. It might be better, but There's nothing the iPhone does better for me. Even the verge rated the camera on par with my G4 and the verge are often regarded a bias source towards Apple products. There's also stuff that Apple phones can't do that the Android can that I use, so in some ways an iPhone is a downgrade for me. I find iOS 9 also doesn't perform as well as Android does now. Especially when it comes to 3rd party keyboards, Apple are inferior in that respect and it's an important aspect of a smartphone.

        • @Ronnnie: I mean if you want to compare prices, the Samsung S6 128gb model is only $200 less. (off samsungs site). I mentioned iOS running better because I have seen to many people see the price of an iphone and go with the cheap android, than complain about how its not as fast as the iphone. As for the ios running better than android, think of it like talking a walk through a city you've lived in vs one you've never been to before. Samsung luckly have people to alter androids code to work better it their hardware, but the cheaper phones probably dont.

        • +3

@Apple96: there were deals that was only $800-$900 something. So there are $400-$500 difference.

        • -1

          @slackme: keyword, 'were'

        • @Apple96: Keyword "Apple" & Opposite of "69".

        • @Apple96:
hahaha.. just "how" is it better than Android? Can you qualitatively quantify those statements?

    • +4

      agreed

the phone will be outdated in a few years

better off getting a return flight(s) to somewhere nice and having memories that last a life time

      • +3

Hopefully, you'll have a very good phone to take quality photos of these memories. ;)

        • +4

Memories to remember. You don't have to have pictures/photos to remember the past.

        • Phone….. Quality Photos…

          Should've gone to specsavers

    • -1

It's not really that much money for a device that you use and rely on every day. It's priced appropriately for the younger demographic.

    • Agreed, I'd rather spend that money on Sony Xperia Z5 Premium and get 4K display too!

  • Woman got this for 1280 at dick smiths when I picked up my headphones from the deal the other day, she was still trying to negotiate it down even more as she was handing the cash over. I was waiting for the manager as the lady who served me didn't know were to find the click and collect orders, manager was the one who sold it.

  • +12

$1,339 for any small, depreciating electronic device is not a deal.

    • +1

      I couldn't believe my eyes… $1300+ phone, at OzBargain.

The gene pool needs some bleach!

  • +1

That's a comparatively good price op. Thanks for posting.

  • Unique Mobiles have the iPhone 6s plus (ie. larger screen+battery+image stabilisation) in 128gb for $1399 + delivery (about $10-$30 depending on your options). Only colour available is gold.

  • Don't drop it.

    • +2

      No, please drop it. :)

      • Dropped mine a few times already. Still going ok.

  • -1

who the hell pays this much for a phone??? oh thats right, isheep LOL

  • How do you price match mobileciti's price at officeworks when the iphone is only available from the OW online store. Not in store

  • +2

    10% off DJ gift cards

  • +4

People pay that? My Lumia 735 is doing great. Going to Europe in January with money saved. Should be fun.

  • +2

I honestly can't believe that the price of smart phones are going beyond $1200. It almost makes no sense to spend that much on a phone
I can't think of any reason other than profit that they're charging that much, if the manufacturing cost is about $200 a pop

    • You aren't old enough to see old Nokia non-smart phone era 8000 series went for $1500+?

      • and how did that work out for Nokia?

        • Nokia had its time and Apple is in its time so that's why it thinks I can charge whatever it wants now. Only time will tell.

      • Do you know anyone who ever had a Nokia 8000? Never seen one in my life

  • +1

Apple only made $10 billion last week- profit forecasts are grim and they might actually have to pay tax somewhere though not in Australia obviously- you aren't buying often enough- give your current one to grandma and buy this, today.

    • lmao. they say that everytime apple releases their numbers…
      apple is doomed!!1!

  • Eventually they'll be right. Might be a century or two. All great empires must end.lol

Some people think Microsoft will eventually win. Lol
