If there is no gift card promotions, then don't buy them, profit :)
Except by buying a gift card you are giving them an interest free loan, locking yourself into buying from their store even if they don't have the best price, they expire, will not be replaced if lost or stolen..
So yeah, the benefits are pretty damn stacked in favor of the retailer already without skimming a few $ in fees on top.
