  • Gluten free bases! Awesome! But $2.95 extra…phew tough call.

    • +1

It is not a tough call if you are sensitive to gluten. Now I can enjoy pizza with my mates again, even if it is just a Dominos one.

        My thoughts exactly.. I'm excited…

As a celiac, I know that it is nearly impossible to buy a gluten free pizza for less that $18. Dominos, great job. I tried 2 last week and they are THE best tasting bases ever, hands down.

      • Yeh there is awesomeness from that perspective.

  • +3

As above, great news about gluten free bases being available at a chain! You get a + just for making me aware of that!!! :D

  • Can't say that I love Dominos - but having a GF option is nice move.

  • Gluten Free? Does that mean if i eat Dominoes pizza daily, i wont get fat? Will give a + pending answer to question

?..you have no idea really, do you? People with Celiac Disease will DIE if the don't stop eating Gluten. (Knuckle Head)

      • +3

What about disease-free people? Will they benefit from gluten free bases? Im after a magic pizza that will help reduce weight and provide all the vitamins and nutrients in one hit

Make your own. Don't use much / any cheese. Use low fat / fat free pizza bases (pita bread). Keep a close watch on the kj count.

To clarify, it isn't like a peanut allergy where coming in contact with peanuts can cause anaphylactic shock, for someone with coeliacs disease it damages your intestines and stops your body absorbing nutrients. In addition it can cause bowel cancer.

  • Thanks for letting me know about this, I know what dinner tonight is going to be. And well done to Dominos for accomodating those with wheat sensitivity (about 15% of the population!)

  • theyve had this for a while now?

    • Thats what I thought, and I swear it didnt have a * next to it before.. which I assume means it was free.

    • I asked about 6 months ago and got a blank look, so it's new to the store nearest to me.

  • Great to see more gluten free products in the marketplace. I don't need them but know people who do, and they are usually quite miserable when attending most cafes as there's only a couple of suitable items on the menu.

This is great news for us coeliacs.
I have been buying gluten-free pizzas and pasta from a little shop at Wantirna Mall on Mountain Highway called:
    Gino Fontayne's Pizza Restaurant.
Just waiting for Maccas to offer some burgers (fries are already GF) then I'll be back to junk food bliss!

    • You might want to check those fries. If they cook other food in them, you will be glutened!

  • were does it say gluten free?

    • +1

"gluten free base" is at the very bottom of the drop down list under "current crust".

I had one for dinner tonight, and it was quite good for a gluten free pizza.

      • Cool, I can get the Dominos Menu on a truckers cap.

  • +1

I have checked with McDonalds management and they ensure that the oil is only for the fries and no other item (like nuggets etc.) are cooked in it. The fries do not contain any gluten.

  • Pity it will probably taste like cardboard!

  • you have to hand it to dominos - gluten free stuff & vaguely healthy new pizza range.. not bad for a chain store that caters to the masses (sorry it does :P)

    • They're a franchise, who else did you think they were going to cater to?
