The best Australian owned and made beer

Pity (for me) it's just Qld price

    • have you tried other craft beers? your preferences will soon change..

      • Plenty and this has been a favourite for many years.

Much to learn you have young obiwan!

The best Australian owned and made mainstream beer brand.

    fixed :)

There is no stone and wood pacific ale on that list.

      Best mass produced.

Although the red label is better. Maybe others, too…..

    • Ironically, Little Creatures is wholly owned by Lion Nathan whereas Coopers is actually independent.

Good beer, good price. Wrong state :(

    • Yes, Queensland is too hot for ale. Like red wine, it needs to be drank chilled not sub-zero.

Anything tasted nice when you are hot and drink an ice cold beer. Even VB (Ford), Carlton Draught (Holden) and other dregs.

There's a massive craft beer following in Toowoomba - in fact this weekend they're having a Brewoomba festival celebrating just that! So I can avoid XXXX for a few more years yet

      • Pale is delicious super cold.

        • +1

Anything is delicious super cold, even VB/CD.

        • @tightwad:

No amount of chilling can make XXXX delicious!

Great price for Coopers. Can't believe that VB is like $44/carton these days and yet Coopers Green is $39! One of the few aussie made and owned mainstream beers left (if not THE only!) Thanks for the post OP….. Good to remind people of these facts!

Love that non-South Australians call them "Coopers Green" and "Coopers Red" (in SA they're "Pale" and "Sparkling").

  • How much normally at DM?

    • $44

Surely I am not the only on that doesn't like the taste of this beer? Red Label is good as its 1.7 drinks per bottle

    • +2

Sounds like you need to roll the bottle

      • -5

That's all a bunch of marketing hullabaloo from Coopers, no roll required

      • +1

I don't understand, why would it be a bunch marketing bs. You can clearly see the sediment at the bottom of the stubby, hence you roll it to agitate it into the beer.

        • -5

Precisely my point, why would you feel the need to distribute this yeast excrement through your beer? Unnecessary, doesn't add to flavour or provide any extra fermentation. Anyway, to each his own.

@mattoid532: I've been rolling / carefully inverting my Coopers for 25 years, and it does change the flavour

        • @Wampus:

I like to consider myself quite the Coopers fan, and I have never bothered to roll or invert the beer at all. Guess I enjoyed it as is. I have a sixer in the fridge, will give the roll / invert trick a go next bottle I open to see if I can discern the difference.

      • South Australian here… tip it upside down, don't roll it!

        • +1

+1 always invert, never roll :)

    • i don't like it either, too weak for me - sparkling/stout/vintage preferred :)

      • Stout is my new winter beer.

Vintage will be my always beer when I win lotto.

  • My usual beer when Im not trying some new $10 six pack from Dan Murphys

  • Damn. So excited when I read this post. Almost worth a drive to Qld for that price. Even $44 in NSW is pretty good.

  • Expired now it is $43.99
