  • This is really tempting. Ideal for a uni laptop

  • Looks good. Not in the market for one though.

So tempting but the cube i7 stylus was $500 with stylus and keyboard just yesterday :/

    • No warranty with a Chinese tab tho

      • Plenty of Chinese stores offer warranties. Most are 6 months or a year. Better than nothing I suppose.

  • Just looked at this in JBHI store for Bring your own device for kids school next year. $598 in store today

    • You can ask them to price match the website.

      • Yeah they should the same price in store.

  • 1x USB Ports (1x USB 2.0) + 2x USB 2.0 ports on the keyboard
    so that's 3x USB 2.0?!

    • +1

Yeah but I think they are breaking it out for people so they don't think the device has all the ports … if you leave the KB behind

      • yeah but USB 3?

        • yes, there are no USB 3.0 ports on this.

    • yes, 2-in-1 devices generally always specify the location of the ports. it is something that is very important for some people, depending on their usage.

  • No USB 3.0 and no Ethernet. PASS.

  • Can you upgrade the RAM? The atom processor would be pretty slow though.

If you're looking for a Chinese comparison: the Chuwi Hi10 has come out with the same specs for half the price.

Also, apparently the Z8300 is supposed to be only able to support 2GB of RAM, but there are plenty of new tablets coming out with 4GB and the chip.

    • Does the chuwi come with a keyboard?

      • It has a dockable keyboard which you can get bundled with it for about $20USD. I ordered a Vi10 (not Hi10) last night during 11.11 sales. Reviews I've seen say the keyboard on that is quite easy to get used to and very responsive. I'd expect the Hi10 keyboard to be no different.

The reason I chose the Vi10 over the Hi10 is because it's a bit cheaper, has a bigger battery and maxes out at about 70C degrees. One of the knocks on the Cherry trails is that they can run quite hot (the Z8500 apparently overheats quite a bit).

As for the Hi10, a 1080p display with a 6500mAh battery: you'd probably expect to see 4 or 5 hours out of it. Chuwis are meant to be quite high build quality tablets so maybe they've figured that out. But it doesn't compare to the 10-C00H which has an additional battery in the keyboard dock and can last up to 15 hours, which is nuts.

        • Also, afaik, the Chinese tablets use (possibly dodgy) volume licences requiring KMS activation, if that's an issue for you. That means you'll likely have issues if wanting to reinstall windows.

        • @The Barong:

Ahaha gave me a little panic. That's the Vi10 Ultimate which runs the Z8300 Cherry Trail (same as this Toshiba). It looks like the chip can't escape heating issues. The Vi10 has an older Z3736F in it.
