Daikin Ducted - Which Unit?

Finally making the jump to install ducted prior to the Christmas heat in our new home. Whilst Actron was in contention, I'm pretty happy with the reviews received on the Daikin and this is now my preference.

In preparation of the sales spin, would like some real world advice.

Standard Inverter
Premium Inverter
Premium Inverter Plus

I don't really find the brochure to be detailed and sway me to my preferred option.

Also anyway have or looked at the SkyZone control panel? I like the look, but don't know or understand the benefit.

Sorry for the basic question, but personally believe that their website / brochure tells me nothing to compare the units (at least what I understand).

Appreciate any advice.

I Googled, clicked the a relevant link, hit "range" and came up with a beautiful and fully featured table.

    Link: http://www.daikin.com.au/home-solutions/ducted-air-condition…

Ensure you click "range" and scroll down. Each of the blue information taps next to each feature provides an explanation of said feature. Once you're across the features, if there's anything you don't understand, further research is required. Just start picking it to pieces with a bit of Googling. If you're feeling brave enough, then find a Specialist Dealer that you can discuss your confusions/queries with.

You'll find out pretty quickly if they've got limited technical knowledge, at which point you're probably best contacting customer service.

    • Appreciate it. I did see that table, however the wall of numbers turned me off as a general consumer and missed the blue tabs.

Table does clearly identify key differences between standard and others.

However Premium & Premium Plus are grouped on the table - once again confusion.

      • I see, and appreciate the confusion now.

Hopefully there's a HVAC techie OzBargainer floating about! If not, you may need to head in and see a specialist. Good luck.

  • You're right, that table doesn't say much about the units.

The important stuff, like power (heating/cooling) output, and power consumption, are missing. The features that aren't ticked on every model don't seem to be the important ones anyway.

I'm very happy with my Fujitsu ducted AC (most popular brand in Aus I think).

What you need to think about is:

    • cost
    • energy efficiency (i.e.: running cost)
    • reliability (i.e.: maintenance/replacement cost)
    • heating/cooling power
    • how many zones you want/need

Here's how to calculate how much heating/cooling power you need:
